ADSL modem with Wired (4 port) and wireless combo would be nice, what are people using and what's the best value for money? |

its not best value for money you need, its best router you can get on a budget, you need one with as high a concurrent connection limit as possible which means one with a new chipset. I believe DLINK make the worst routers iirc although i could be wrong, as for specific models, i read a thread somewhere with a link but i think it was at fileheaven.org |

I thought you said you wanted wired? Not so flattering comments: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 5?v=glance Nice features but lots of connection drops
This is the worst router of all time

The DI-624+ AirPlusXtremeG+ is a high-speed 2.4GHz 802.11g wireless broadband Router with a built-in 4-port Fast Ethernet Switch. Wireless and wired, best of both worlds, although I found the negative comments as well, so it's going to be avoided ![]() This looks like the best according to this thread : http://forum.emule-project.net/index.ph ... 9030&st=20 |

yes, that one looks like a good one. Notice it goes on about heavy load all the time in the description and it seems to be aimed more at business needs. Those are better than the home ones. However notice that thread is over a year old. |

Indeed, However it's the best so far, anything else I should be looking at? |

nope, features are nice, but as long as it supports high numbers of concurrent connections, it will do the job. The more the better, since it means its got a better chipset. |

Yeah, absolutely, however most (all) sub ?100 routers support 254 users (and therefore connections) or less. |

This is getting good reviews : http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... _uid=94178 AND it's ADSL 2+ compatible looks like it's either that or the USR, but ATM (unless anyone posts any horror stories) it looks like the Linksys is winning. |

That's the one to go for then, just so long as you can hold > 500 concurrent connections or you'll get drop outs. Linksys has had problems with nat forwarding and connection drops, but last time i looked for a router was years ago. I would be appauled if they haven't gotten their act together yet. |

It's SO diffucult to actually find anything oiut about routers though ![]() God knows how many connections it'll hold, Linksys aren't saying, but neither will anyhone else ![]() |

You have to find a benchmark or someone bitching about it ![]() I googled but its way too new to find anything. Smart idea looking at ADSL2+ if you don't intend to buy another router for ages. |

Indeed Although my current Linksys has been pretty good in the main, so I think I might just get it anyway ![]() |

![]() The Belkin F5D7633 is based on the newer version of the chipset in the USR, supports the same amount of concurrent connections AND is adsl 2+ Looks to be the best bet, unless I find something else today, I'll pick up the Belkin |

i knew dlink stood out for a reason, good job you didn't get one, they are infact the brand i was thinking of that are the absolute worst make. I've corrected the post just incase someone stumbles across and ignores the "iirc although i could be wrong", so now it says they are the worst. The name was in my head for a reason, they have major connection drop problems. Since fileheaven.org came back i double checked, that router you posted by dlink that's ADSL2+, bucky says its absolutely terrible and prone to dropped connections near constantly. |
