Hello tossers, looking into buying an external HDD to connect via USB2. Just need to know how simple will it be to use the drive to transfer DVD images and the like between 2 systems?

Cheers ladies.

It's really simple if the two systems both have Windows (or any other OS). You just need to copy the file to the external HD, remove it, connect it to the other computer and copy the file. Some external HDs require drivers installed, but most don't. Windows just automagically detects them and gives them a drive letter. After that you can use them like normal HDs.

Suggestion: If you don't need that much space on the HDD and use it freguently, get 2,5" External HDD. It runs on USB power, so you don't need to hassle with power cords etc. I have 120GB 3.5" and 40GB 2.5" and the 3.5" is sitting firmly on my desk as a normal HDD and I use the 2.5 to move stuff around. It's compact... but bit expensive if you compare how many GB's you get...
