-as depressing as I remembered
-grab if you want to see your significant other cry her eyes out

on the depressing note...

'Love Liza' 2002
-yeah I laughed at times, but overall this movie is sad, sad, sad
-grab if you want your significant other to swear not to watch again, ever! and request that you delete it immediately

I don't know about other members here, but I can watch a depressing film and get depressed by it, but also be able to find that entertaining. In other words, if the film makes me feel anything to a certain degree then I consider it good.

I agree. It sounds a bit like you think being depressed is entertaining :D, but the last sentence clears it all up and I'm 100% like that, although I like the feeling of joy a lot better (the cheer and shout-movies).

Yesterday I watched

Hoboken Hollow - Redneck rampage which I thought was quite cool, althought the effects were pretty bad, as well as the attempt to make it look like "based on a true story", I mean, that was just hilariously bad.

Night of the Demons - nice movie, reminded me a lot of Evil Dead, which is obviously more of a classic. Some things in Night of the Demons attracted me, like the cliche mixture of people attending the seance party (I have never seen such a mixture in real life for sure).

Just now I watched

Hostel - The idea is quite good and the girls are hot, especially Barbara Nedeljakova

Image

but the ending was not so well done. It seemed like the director just didn't know how to end this film.

Last Friday I watched

Bride of the Monster - nice Ed Wood film with the stuff you expect when reading his name. Bela Lugosi does pretty well in this one and the octopus is one thing to look out for!

Warlock 3 - I had only seen Warlock 1 before this one, and it isn't as good as the first one. Ashley Laurence does a good job, but she's the only one. If yopu like this kind of movies and haven't seen any of them, go for number one.

Not really a horror but I just watched LOTR Return of the king as it was on telly. What a heavy ending, hard not to get a bit choked up :o

All round entertaining film.

i always contribute my last watched to scifi site, here's my last actual relevant posting from there:

I watched the new series of IT Crowd... much improved this time round... and Sanchez from Garth Marenghi has arrived! Awesome :)

Watched The Plague.... I dunno why but this reminded me of an old John Carpenter like movie. This kind of movie has been done over, and over, and over. Its essentially cannon, now but it kept my interest all the way through :)

I then watched..... Red Dawn, I'd never seen it all the way through before. Funny shit. Its actually quite enjoyable in a cheesy way if you can ignore how silly it is. America stands alone! oh and englands there... all aboard the Swayze express!

oh and i completely forgot, I watched a 'movie' I really enjoyed called Death of a President which is a ficticious documentary surrounding the assination of President Bush in about early October of this year.... maybe it was cathartism in action but I really enjoyed it. Its a film four production:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0853096/

Events unfold exactly as you'd expect, where they instantly blame it on terrorism, tighten up the "Patriot" Act etc.

I'd recommend it.

I've seen Death of a President as well, nice mockumentary. Quite well done, it has a "real" feeling to it. Usually I don't like mockumentaries, but I liked this one. Not so much I;m gonna watch it again, but still.

Yesterday I watched

Visitor Q - a very weird movie of a family of whcih the son gets bullied, the wife beaten by the son and the father is a loser wanting to make a career out of filming. It takes quite a while (one hour) before it gets hilarious in the Japanese way: I laughed out loud while I was watching something that's actually very sick. Only Japs can do that.

Enjoyed 'em both, loved Murder Party.

Another update from me from the other side of hhah...

Quote:
Okay, I managed to watch a new film (shocker!!!).

The film was called Black Sheep which is an entertaining New Zealand horror flick that lives up to the heritage that country has made for itself in comic horror. You can guess from the title what your going to get is a bunch of mad/infected/evil/etc sheep and what you get is pretty much that. There are points of excessive silliness that wasn't exactly what I was hoping for but I really enjoyed the flick and would recommend it. Its a satisfying kind of horror film, kind of like Undead was in terms of enjoyment. Worth checking out.

I've mainpaged the movie. Not sure about the AR of the 1/3rd though, looks off in the screens.

Straw Dogs - Heard a lot about it, and I was a bit disappointed. Less violence than I expected, way more character building than I expected (took more than one hour! close to an hour and a half).

Cannibal Apocalypse - no bogus journeys into the jungle of whichever third world country this time. Two Vietnam vets spread cannibalism throughout a city. Great gore! I loved watching this movie!

Two movies;
last night I watch the very excellent Bio-Zombie. I love asain films like this, the humour is very over the top and silly but it works and the actors always seem to pull it off. Contrast this to the pathetic drivel that comes from america where they have a complete inability to act, or be in anyway funny in comedies and it just shows the dire state of american 'comedy' in a lot of places (although there's piss funny stuff from the states too, obviously). If you've not seen this film, its enjoyable... basically there's a bunch of losers that work in an indoor shopping center and they are locked in there with a bunch of zombies. Fun stuff, but its old and its not the first time i've seen it.

I went to see Bourne Ultimatum and its probably the best in the series, more action, faster and more elaborate scenes, etc. Its the shame stuff but a bit more polished and the best in the series. They probably need to stop at this one though. Worth a watch with a decent telly/screen and sound setup, you'll enjoy it even with a lot of globe trotting/fast edits/etc.

Guinea Pig 1 and 2 - Number 1 is at first quite shocking, because what happens is not over the top, but after a while it does get over the top and you get more used to the weird stuff. Number 2 was more enjoyable, it was even more over the top. I had already seen numbers 3, 4 and 5 and until now I like number 4 the best. Let's see what number 6 has in store.

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers - one of the funniest movies I had seen in weeks. Everything you want is here: chicks, chainsaws and gore. And cheesy humor. My rip was awful, so redownloading now :)

Love Camp 7 - more porn than torture in this nazisploitation which tries to make the most of having a storyline. I liked it better than Gestapos Last Orgy, but The Beast In Heat and Ilsa are better.

Caved In - some people are in an old mine together with giant rhinoceros beetles. Bad CGI and overall very stupid.

Doodeind - Dutch horror which is quite dull the first half. The people in it are OK, but the story is very unconvincing. The second half it gets better and better, but the end is a total anti climax: it looks like the director ran out of celluloid.

I watched Superman: Doomsday. It was okay, but I didn't really like the animation style.

That said they completely smashed up metropolis and I always enjoy that... the biggest dissapointment of super hero movies is they don't completely destroy the cities they are in as they are beating each other up.

Didn't really like the story arch, seemed a bit peripheral and something they could have done in a tv episode.

Wasn't terrible, i've seen worse kid's cartoons :)

I've been watching Dr Awful's House of Horrible and I have to say, I fair enjoy it. okay its no Darkplace but steve coogan is brilliant in it and there's some silliness that kept me entertained all through the series.

No decent rips of it on emule though, I'll have to rip it.

Slasher week/end for me...

Sleepover Nightmare (2005)

Entertaining Slasher with a few suspenseful moments & some imaginative killings.

The Attendant (2004)

Camping slasher with supernatural elements & a wierdo gas station attendant. Entertaining.

The Choke (2006)
Very boring low budget slasher about a punk band getting locked into a nightclub & getting bumped off 1 by 1.

Shaolin vs Evil Dead - lots of kung fu, very little evil dead. Shift+Del, because I just don't like kung fu movies. If you do, watch it.

The Aryan Couple - a very, very incredible film about a Jewish family that makes a deal with Himmler (who comes to dinner to these Jewish people, yeah right!!) to exchange their mansion filled ith art for their lives. If you're into WWII movies, or Holocaust movies, please, listen to me and skip this one.
