maybe i'm just mind frelled, but wasn't ending:
with just a douche stood in the corner... oh no scarey!
maybe i wasn't in the mood, or at least i thought so until i realised lots of other people weren't in the mood either.
I still think the family guy commentry should be on the dvd
As for Romero, its like Ridley Scott and James Cameron, they had it back then but today, its not so clear whether they have the ideas anymore and aren't just a part of the machine.

another thing about the ending:
wasn't it just lifted from Don't Look Now anyway? (not its ending, but i'm pretty sure an infinitely better and more effective scene was in that movie)

Whats with the black-out stuff?
Scuse my ignorance but Iam a nooby!
Oh, just reminded myself about a confusing little quirk in some of the film names that get posted here, (sorry its a bit off tangent!); Why are there so many 'D's missing from the file names? I refer to 'LandOfThead', 'ThevelsRejects' to name two that Ive encountered recently. What gives!?
Family Guy commentary would be a great bonus; someone should do a rip n stick it on top!
As for the 'Greats'; I guess age has softened them somewhat. They were young and full of 'fuck-the-world-vitality', hence some of their latest stuff seems a little bland now. Either that or we just expect too much of em now...
Still, good films, (horror and otherwise), will always come out; there has always been, and always will be, a market for having the shite scared outta you!
 Well, me at least!...
PS; I read recently that Scott may well be doing Alien 5! Apparently it will either be a sequel to Ressurection, (set on Earth), or a prequel showing the Aliens origin. Not sure wether thats a good or bad thing...

Even though this is probably one of them threads where everyone posts lists and no one bothers to read them, I'll post some... But only 7 from each decade. Because my memory sucks.
70s:
Dawn of the Dead (Sorry for being predictable.)
Phantasm (I had almost forgot about this movie until I downloaded it a week ago.)
Blood Sucking Freaks (Best Troma re-release ever. Love it.)
Zombie Flesh Eaters [aka Zombi 2] (One of the best zombie movies ever. Zombie vs shark kicks ass.)
Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom (One of the best movies I've ever seen. Not really horror though, but meh.)
Last House on the Dead End Street [aka The Fun House] (Awfully underrated and awfully good.)
Last House on the Left (Better than the rest of his stuff, anyway.)
80s:
Day of the Dead (I'm a huge Romero fan - so sue me.)
Guinea Pig: Flowers of Flesh and Blood (Best Guinea Pig, and possibly the best gore ever.)
Return of the Living Dead (Hella funny.)
Evil Dead (The first one is the best, I think.)
Re-Animator (Same as above - it's kind of a classic.)
Tetsuo - The Iron Man (The best looking movie ever.)
Nekromantik (It's so freaky and twisted, you gotta love it.)
90s:
Braindead (Seriously Peter Jacksons best movie - and don't give me that crap about liking it because he's "famous" now - I bought it back in '95, when I was 11.)
Premutos (German gore at it's... best? Too bad (?) I don't know German.)
The Untold Story (Big fan, especially of the scene with the bottle...)
Tumbling Doll of Flesh (Thanks to DeadDonkey, otherwise I would've never found this sick movie.)
Story of Ricky (Not horror, but hilarious gore!)
Aftermath (I can't help but to love a movie that takes necrophilia so seriously)
Night of the Living Dead (Good effort by Savini, true enough to the original, yet it's own.)
00's:
Stacy - Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies (Just finished watching this last night, and I loved it.)
August Underground (A true underground classic, and often misunderstood. It's awesome.)
Dawn of the Dead (Good in it's own right, I think. Not a traditional zombie movie, and not worthy of it's name, but good.)
Ichi the Killer (Again, not a real horror movie, but gory enough. And good.)
Junk (Pretty good jap-zombie.)
Jason X (Okay, clutching at straws here, but I haven't seen many good 00's. This one was nostalgic though.)
Beyond Re-Animator (the first zombie you see is really cool. And it's an alright sequel.)
I've probably left out tons of movies I love more than the 28 movies here, but I'm hungry...

Yeah but dude... that doesn't mean its good!
What about the hammer stuff; wickerman, etc. are excellent if you can stomach horror from plot/acting/tone rather than from the gore (as ironic as that sounds). Texas Chain Saw? Not your type of movie? okay there are the big ones, but they are very cool unlike big movies today.
I dunno, people always go on about last house, tis mentioned by reviewers and film critics... just wondering, am I the only one that thought it was (being very nice here) "a bit shitty"?
Guinea Pig movies aren't really movies imo. Technical demos, but given there's nothing to them, especially the first, and you didn't mention hellraiser, I think that's a very odd/subjective choices for the 80s, given how many classics there were in the 80s.... They do follow a profile though, until you get to the 00s, then they kind of drop the classic splatter type of movies to some weirdness.
I'll skip right to the 00s, okay, up until this point I kind of got you are into splatter movies (Also why you put ED1 over ED2 right?), but Jason X... wtf happened there? hehe... I need reassurances we werent' watching the same movie there, given how much of a wank biscuit it was. Friday the 13th is a crappy franchise, but andromeda X was really bad by even its standards.
Dawn of the Dead remake seems an odd choice amongst the others. Land of the Dead is probably better but, well its just odd compared to the rest of your list I thought. Its kind of trendy trash, with no note worthy gore, and lacking in the rest of the departments unless your into mtv big style. Any reason or did you just not come up with many 2000+ movies? lol, that's normally the problem i have. Its difficult because we've been clogged over with crap, but I think we'll find looking back later it will be easier to pick out the good movies at least from this decade.
have you seen Dog Soldiers? Its not a splatter but i remember it being a damn sight better and more gory than ahem, some other 00s choice or two That's far better than some of the movies you list, imo. Werewolves, but a nice slash to the stomach and what not. Easily beats dawn of the dead remake and jason X by a long way in my lists.

I know, "Last House on the Left" is probably the least of the exploitation classics - the other two I mentioned ("...on Dead End Street" and "Bloodsucking Freaks") blows it out of the water. But I think it has it's charm, what with being so with thrash and all. But hell, I'll change it for "Day of the Woman"/"I Spit on Your Grave". Better?
Yeah, I steered clear of most of the big-time classics (like Hellraiser and TCM), because I thought it was obvious that everyone loves them
And, yeah, I am more of a gore hound than anything, really. I love the Guinea Pig "movies" (although they got worse and worse as they added more weird - or should I say, japanese - plots).
I did indeed have trouble coming up with good movies from the 00's (obviously) - but I do like some "mainstream" movies like "28 Days Later", re-"Dawn of the Dead",even Ame-"Ring"-ca, for the same reason that I like sitcoms and lame high-school comedies - it's easy watching. The good-looking zombies in latter day zombie movies add a bit too, but as I said - they're not zombie movies anymore. Not even really horror movies.
No, I haven't seen Dog Soldiers - I've actually avoided it because I'm not too keen on werewolves. But if you recommend it for the gore, I'll definitely consider getting it (since it is, after all, free).
Oh, and sorry about the Jason X thing - I just love the scene where he kills the one camper girl by beating her with the other camper girl. Brings me back to when I stayed up until 3 in the morning on school-night to watch the "Friday" series on TV. Nostalgia

Nah, I have no problems with accents, as long as I understand the language (which is why I desperately wanna learn japanese). I'll check it out. I assume there's an ed2k of it somwhere around here..!
