When I was 10, me and a pal spent a day repeatedly watching a pirate copy of Rocky 4. When you're 10 Rocky 4 is the best film ever made!

Also, my first ever VHS rental was The Empire Strikes Back, which I watched 5 times back to back in one day.

These days I couldn't even watch a movie I really liked more than twice in a week without getting bored the second time. Weird!

The movie that a saw more times was "The Exorcist" ,in my opinion it?s the best horror movie ever made.

wooo video2000 finally someone else who had one, i had one, they were cool, techwise they were a lot better quality then vhs, and could store 4 hours per tape side but higher quality then 8hours lp on a normal vhs, it was kinda like the current dvdr+ and dvdr- battle, back then it was video2000 vs vhs and vhs won out which is a shame, u know vhs won because it was easier to copy video to video so people were buying them so tehy could pirate porn and other movies, so it caused sales of vhs to increase causing video2000 to become obsolete :(

Image

as usual porn was what influenced sales, porn si big business as you know and whichever medium allows people to get theyre hands on it easier and cheaper then the competition will be the one that wins out

sweeeeeeet pic Max :D

Yes and is was one hell of a noisy machine, rewinding/fast forwarding was a nightmare.

But the tapes being double sided was cool!

Video 2000 was better then BetaMax/VHS I reckon!

hehe plus when its dark in the room the red and green lights are very aesthetically pleasing :D

i remember when my video2000 went, we were having sunday dinner and we were taping the wuzzles (old carton for those who dont know) and my mum saw smoke coming out the back of it so my dad ran and pulled the plug out and it couldnt be fixed and by then you couldnt buy viedo2000 anymore :( ive still got loads of my old video2000 cassettes (one filled with thomas the tank engine woohoo), never did get to see that damn wuzzles episode tho :o

ebay mate

Not sure wat happened to ours. Probably got replaced when the only place to rent them stopped and only stocked VHS's!

ah Pharoahs Video, those were the days.
Till I went on Holiday for a fortnight and returned to see it bought out by a national chain, the horror section gone and the videos twice the price :o

I was pissed off on that day I can tell ya!

I agree about video 2000 chaps. We had one, and it was superb. Flawless freeze frame, slow-mo and search. Our Grundig machine was a groovy front loader too. Truly ahead of it's time. I remember how much VHS sucked, especially back then. On playback you would get white lines dancing across the screen, even on a brand new tape. As for the visual abortion you got when you tried to fast forward, i don't even want to think about it. It's a crying shame that VHS won the day!

We only ever had VHS but I remember the local video shop having loads of nasties on Betamax hidden away until it was taken over in about 1992. They had a few VHS but they only had the best nasties on Beta. :wacky:
