Please, Villainess, don't say mean things. You'll make me cry.

So, anyone want to add a top ten (50's too much unless its a cut and paste)Here's mine.

10. Leprechaun - Just the right mix of horror and comedy. First the scary little reject kills and then we get a one liner. Original and funny. Everything entertainment should be. Honorable mention goes to all the sequels.

9 Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 - A brilliant concept. Take everything that was good in the original and build upon it. Too high concept for most and a feat rarley repeated...

8. Boogeyman 2 - Another classic example of the right way to use a flashback. Some would say its packed with filler, but a true conneseur would know that you can never taste a great meal too much.

7. Hellreaiser: Bloodlines - Another throughly worthy sequel. Behind the scenes, it was shaped from the beginning to be another modern masterpiece. Kevin Yagher's long years creating effects prepared him for the seemless transition to directing and it shows.

6 Hallloween Resurrection - Another classic sequel. Though there are naysayers out there who would bash this piece of celluloid art, I can only ask, "If its so bad, how come there's another sequel coming?"Its greatness is only enhanced by the continuation of the fine tradition of using rappers in horror movies.

5 - Tales from the Hood - A mix of the familiar tales that we've seen in other anothologies and new, iriginal stories that the racists in Hollywood are too afraid to make. if you don't come out of this movie knowing who the white devil is (not Clarence Williams III), you weren't watching closely enough.

4. Jack Frost - A killer snowman? Why did it take so long for our minds to find this new image of unadulterated horror. Its a snowman for Christ's sake. They're the reason yellow snow was invented. And its only the second film, after Leprechaun, to use a wisecracking killer. Another true milestone.

3 The Haunting - Obviously, I'm talking about the remake, not that crappy original. The man/woman who saw the original and said we need to do that in colour and with lots of CG is a genius More power to the studio system.

2 Psycho - Obviously, I'm harping on the remakes a bit much, but what can I say when they are as brilliant as this one. To take the original (another one in black and white, WTF?) and remake it is almost too much. There is nothing I can say to express how truly incredible the idea was. I wish it had been more of and exact copy, but the addition of Viggo Mortensen's ass and masturbation are bold steps into originality. It can truly be enjoyed by fans of the original and newer fans alike. Has easily surpassed the original as a classic and will be watched forever, while Hitchbo's (sp?) musty balck and white hacksterpiece is rightfully lost ot the ages.

1 Rene Cardona Jr. - I know this is a list of best (not something subjective llike "favorite", but objective like "best") horror movies, but no list of the best of cinema can be compiled without this man's name on it. Rather than boil it down to one key title, I must honor the man himself. A cross genre pioneer, Rene enbiggened every genre he touched upon. He has a true auteurs eye and knows to let each scene play out to its full extent, no matter how much dialogue and classy synth score it takes to fill the time. To the best of my knowledge this Mexican Argeto has never worked with that country's other great cinematic export, Santo, one can only imagine what that dream project would look like.

I'm sure there are others that deserve a place of honor on my list, but even classsics like these can only command so much oif my time. I'd love to post a long treatise on why Seytan easily destroys The EXorcist and should usurp its place in histtory. I might have wanted to include some thoughts on the HK horror scene of the 80's and 90's and the way they deftly wove comedy and horror (Dr' Lamb and the bouncy severed breast scene being a classic example of good taste and comedic restraint.) But time is short and I've provided enough classics for one post.

Seek out and watch these movies and say a silent thank you to me while you do.

Yeah, but in your profile, you list movies second and horror third. All I can say is "Boo-urns."

"Were you saying boo or boo-urns?"
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"I was saying boo-urns!"

Lets hope no one thought you were being serious about those "top 10" movies

Boo-urns is a popular phrase with those I know. It is multi-purpose. It can mean boo or burn or both.

Are you implying that my list is facetious?

8)

My Top Ten - basically it is the scare or shock factor for me - if it scared me in someway then it's on the list.

10. Night Of The Living Dead
9. Stir Of Echoes
8. The Shining (original)
7. Predator (Yes! It scared me!)
6. TCM (original)
5. Alien (just brilliant)
4. Open Water (maybe not even close to a horror but I almost died)
3. Darkness
2. The Exorcist
1. Hellraiser (so amazing for it's time, and the characters are still frightening)

Well I don't have time to think about it right now, but there's a huge percent chance that Dawn of The Dead will be number one. Its way better than the original, and the original is awsome. Evil Dead II will be high too.

Funny how people go on about sequels not being better than the originals, then there's so many that are

To be honest, I wasn't much fond of either remakes of night or dawn, the remake of dawn was about on par, maybe a bit less than the remake of the original, but I don't know, I haven't thought about it or seen remake dawn for a while. ;)

Of course going back to what was said the sequel to the original, was much better than the original, but of course, I've already said that twice now. Unless your a bit slow of course... and... then... I... can... say... it...slower... if.... four... films... is... too.. much... for ...you

*burn*

speaking of which, is the new dawn of the dead actually a sequel? It doesn't seem so in anyway, its actually based upon Dawn of the Dead, but seems to be a film in itself...

Very difficult to say which is better than the other, cause each is good in it's own way, but here are some of my favorites anyway:

10. Wicker Man
9. Darkness
8. Jacobs Ladder (yes spud, we agree on something!!!!)
7. The Believers
6. Angel Heart
5. Candyman (actually a romantic film, but it has some blood as well)
4. Suicide Club
3. Cure
2. Death and the Maiden
1. Tesis

I like it INTENSE!

Wow, I don't agree with you sir, but I defend to the death your choice to like them

I think most them movies are excellent.

Candyman imo is like a forerunner to ringu, in that its the same content (and infact very similar storyline, barring obvious deviation).

Jacob's Ladder is excellent, its not in my top ten.

Wickerman is superb, one of the best British films made period. Or should that be Full Stop? :)

What didn't I like about Death and the Maiden? The pacing was atrocious. It moved at a snail's pace. Way too talky (obviously based on a play). No tension. No sense of the characters.

Spud, I'm not on a sex offenders list. I think you have that mixed up with the "sexy beast" label you put on all the emails you send me. And I'll tell you for the last time, I'm not flying to England, I'm not giving you my address and I'm sure as hell not sending you and pictures.
