Hide & Go Shriek (1988): A group of students spend the night partying in the dark in the warehouse of a shop belonging to 1 of their dads. They aren't alone & 1 by one they start getting bumped off. The difference with this one is the killer steals his victims clothes & pretends to be that person he's just killed which in the dark leads his next victim to think its actually his friend arsing about. Crap twist at the end but very entertaining nontheless. 6/10

Spookies (1987): Supernatural Demon possesion comedy horror with farting monsters & zombies. A group of people end up lost in the woods & stumble upon an old house. Once there they find an ouija board that tells them they won't get out alive. Thoroughly enjoyable. 7/10

Sure, I meant the first one... I didn't find it "good"... more laughably crazy (I mean c'mon), the 80s had all sorts of killers motivations and backgrounds but that was certainly one I had never seen nor would've expected.

the very ending was just lame indeed.

On Saturday night, I had another Night of Bad Taste at my old student's association. I showed the following crap:

Night of the Hell Hamsters - hilarious shorty, with the flying hamster being the coolest. The end was great too.
99 Women - A Franco movie which got pretty famous. WIP with a very special jungle: it gets cold at night :o
Voyage to the Planet of the Prehistoric Women - I didn't see any prehistoric women, and only two dinosaurs. The spacecar however was great! It can drive over land and over water, and it can be submerged: just open the hatch in the bottom
Attack of the Killer Refrigerator - another hilarious shorty. This one got the most cheers from the crowd. I especially liked the scene in which you can see the guy behind the fridge very obviously.
Zombie Lake - kind of lame, but that's the whole idea. The crowd enjoyed the overly dramatic music very much: they sang along everytime after a while.
Rush - the funniest of them all. There's so much wrong in this movie, I can't begin to make a description of it all. Best thing is that in this post-nuclear world, there's a complex with forced labourers, working hard to get plants growing in greenhouses. Meanwhile, there are trees growing at the edge of the camp and when Rush escapes, he hides in a forest (!!).

Yesterday I watched

Assault on Precinct 13 - very decent early film from Carpenter. I enjoyed it very much. There was a scene which looked very, very familiar, but the rest of the film did not. It is the scene in which
Spoiler:
one of the gangmembers shoots the icecream-man and the little girl who was his customer
. Was this scene maybe re-used in another film?

2 Fulcis & I can see the first one being a controvertial review:

The Beyond: Very thin plot. A woman inherits a hotel that was built on 1 of the 7 gates to hell. This ones for the gore hounds only. Spent 3 mins at the start watching some blokes head melting & this kinda theme continued throughout the film... long periods of watching mutilation scenes. Very gory & shocking & has zombies. Ending was a bit pants. Reasonably entertaining but simply not my thing. 4/10

The Black Cat: A spiritual medium owns a black cat which seems to be possesed by the devil. It commits horrific murders confusing the local police as to how they are being done. A lot of suspense & some nasty deaths. Thoroughly enjoyable. 8/10

Domino - bought it cheaply omn Saturday and really felt like watching it, I was lookin' forward to some gun-toting maniacs roaming the streets of LA. You get that, when watching this, but also a lot of mumbo-jumbo (an attempt to clarify the psyche of main character Domino). The story is good, I might say, but the cinematography SUCKS!!! Oooh, how I hate this videoclip-style of movie-making. Some people even might have an epileptic seizure when watching this. The ending has less of this camera madness, so that part is the best to watch. Right at the end of the movie someone walks into the screen. You hear someone say "I am Domino Harvey." Is this the real Domino? If it is, I don't believe a word of all those gangsters and bounty hunters who were praising her looks and cute ass. Oh, I almost forgot: Christopher Walken is great as the TV boss who wants to hire the bounty hunters for a reality TV show. He makes those clowns of 90210 (Ian Ziering and Brian Austin-Green) host the show. They play themselves, very good I might say. I wonder if they knew what they were doing. Recommended for some aspects, but certainly not for the cinematography.

Night of the Creeps (1986): Good 80's style horror (comedy) movie. It was not very funny, but somehow entertaining though. It the end I felt like I had already seen it before - not sure though. Recommended if you like 80's movies and want to watch something that is not a serious, frightening horror picture.

Bloody Moon - bad movie. Dull for the most part, the endscene cannot save this movie, although it is quite OK. One moment I will never forget:
Spoiler:
The scene in which the killer drives over the boy with his car. That looked pretty nasty.
Not recommended, unless you are a devote fan of slashers or of the Video Nasties (like me).

Flesh for Frankenstein - great movie! Like "Blood for Dracula", Warhol's other go at a horror character well known, it is both bloody and funny. Udo Kier can look so serious while he says something idiotic, it's really entertaining. Recommended for anyone!

Opinions? I hated Jason X. The only funny part I can remember was when he killed those hologram camping girls. :)

Dead & Buried - great movie! I really liked the story and the ending was quite surprising, although other things were very easy to guess right.
Spoiler:
It reminded me of 2000 Maniacs and The Wicker Man, and I think this one is inbetween those two qualitywise, closer to Wicker Man, with Wicker Man being the best of the three. The facts which were easy to guess were who the boss was and that the wife of the main character is involved in all this stuff. The fact that he himself is a dead one too surprised me, but after a few seconds I thouhgt: "No, this is way too incredible." Why does his wife have to visit the burial undertaker for new shots and he himself doesn't need to? Very good ending, but worked out weakly.
Still I'd recommend this to anyone.

Tenebrae - a good Argento, but not his best. I liked guessing who the killer was in this one, because when you were wrong, you were never entirely wrong. There are also some killings which I thoroughly enjoyed watching
Spoiler:
(the killing of Jane especially)
As usual the imagery and the music are great. Recommended.

Death Trap aka Eaten Alive - enjoyable horrormovie. I liked the hotel owner, I liked his pet, although I'd have loved to see more of it. This movie has a lot of variety, which makes it easy to enjoy. Recommended.

Evil Clutch - man this is a dark movie, I mean literally, as in total absence of light... in times for like 4 or 5 seconds it's really all black... I believe I'd have enjoyed it a bit more hadn't it been so dark, BUT it's worth a watch for sure, some good imagery, a couple wicked mean zombies... a little good gore (mostly at the ending) although it wasn't nearly the splatterfest some reviews claims it to be... all the props for some good striking imagery and overall decent atmosphere. 6/10

Voices from Beyond - what was that?! this is what I call bad fulci... it's not a good thing when you realized that a movie's story could've been trimmed down to a short feature and would still make sense and certainly benefit from the short length itself. This was very dull and boring... no to mention everything was as uneventful as the script, the cinematography is lacking, the acting is bad beyond belief and it all makes for a movie that drags and drags... 4.5/10

House Of Clocks:
Unusual film about a group of crooks who target a remote house lived in my an old couple, who have more clocks that TAG, that stop when they die & go backwards reversing time.
Nice idea, poorly executed, although the last 30 mins was pretty good. Not one to watch twice like I did or you will see straight through every plothole. 4/10

10.000 BC - on the big screen...great visuals...stupid...prehistoric love story...didn’t know cavemen had such perfect hygiene...clean teeth and shaven faces? I was expecting more blood and carnage
*massive THC consuming made this experience entertaining...thank you spacecake!

Zombie Flesh Eaters - I didn't quite follow the storyline, being it late at night and all, but I don't think that was a problem. Some very gory killings, but overall a tame zombie movie. I have seen lots better. A bit special anyway, as this was the last Video Nasty I hadn't seen yet.
