A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 - The Dream Child (1989): Interesting and original idea here. Despite I didn't like the characters - except the main heroine - the story was enjoyable and most of the killings were also original. I always like when sequels connect to the main story of the villain and show you some new things you haven't already known. So far I've seen part 1,2,3,4,5,7 and Freddy vs. Jason. Looking forward to part 6.

Pffft, I have never watched so many sequels of one movie (except for Hellraiser). Aren't you getting tired of the storyline? Usually they are so much alike that it's like you're watching the same movie again and again. Or are you watching them with the "How will Freddy die this time?" question in the back of your head?

I'm also watching all Halloween and Friday The 13th sequels just to see how the story develops. Unlike these two the Freddy sequels have a better character development and stick with the same actors/actresses during several episodes. This makes it even more interesting. I don't really care how Freddy dies. In the end there is always a dull scene that makes you believe he's still alive. It's more for the thrills, the kills and story development.

Ok, so it's more some kind of research on how the writers develop the story? Or are you just such a big fan of Elm Street that you want new episodes every time?
I can imagine that using the same cast keeps you watching more than when a totally new cast is doing the job.

Well, yes in a way. I consider "A Nightmare On Elm Street" an old style slasher like Halloween. What is special about it is that it has to do with dreams. So there are always unusual things happening which are often realized using nice effects. It's kind of mysterious. That's what I like about it. However excluding part 1, 3 and maybe 7 they are nothing special at all, only fun to watch. Slayer wrote: | Or are you just such a big fan of Elm Street that you want new episodes every time? I guess you can call me a fan. I also played the "A Nightmare On Elm Street" computer game when I way younger.

Rambo IV: Absolutely... truly breathtaking amounts of violence packed in to this movie. There's no pretension, there's no silly sidetracks, there's just some of the most of the top and brutal hyper-violence in cinema history. Stallone knew exactly what he was doing, quite clearly. Possibly the ultimate catharsism for angst in movie form. Or that all important film to test out your 1080p projector and x.y Surround Sound system on One thing was clear, if you walked into that one expecting anything but hyper-violence then you really aren't that bright.

I watched The Cottage when I was immensely stoned. I almost pissed myself laughing, mainly at a woman who complained every time the word cunt was used. The film itself was pretty good, nothing special but entertaining enough.
TBH I found it fairly predictable. Definitely enhanced with weed though.

man, can't wait for The Cottage, the trailer actually made my expectations higher, looks like fun. And the guy that works with Neil Marshal did the effects, I'm curious to see more from him.

Go Tell The Spartans - Vietnam warmovie which is quite enjoyable. Not very cliche, as it plays out during 1964, while most movies are about 1967-1969. I liked the storyline, I disliked the locations: very obviously filmed in a non-jungle environment. The ending was good, not something to be immediately guessed right. Not the biggest surprise in cinema history, but still quite original.

The Deaths Of Ian Stone (2007): This was one great movie. Original and interesting story with great characters. Thumbs up. Among the pieces of shit that are produced nowadays this is a gem.

Pastorale 1953 - nice Dutch movie about resistance during WWII. No heroism, lots of dumb action, funny, but also a good story.

The Boys In Company C - this is Full Metal Jacket, only older. Story is the same, even the drill instructor is the same (only a bit more human in this one). The Vietnam part ends with a footballgame between a Vietnamese and an American team, which is sacrilege, as both countries don't know how to play football properly, at least back in those days they didn't. Also the role this ghame plays in the story is a bit absurd. War is absurd as well, so I can let it go, but still I had this feeling that I had been had, after having finished watching this.

It's not a bad movie. If Full Metal Jacket hadn't copied its story, it would have been more famous, I'm sure. If you forget about the football, it's pretty enjoyable.

Problem is with that sort of film is you're already looking for reasons to enjoy it rather than sitting down to enjoy.
Full Metal Jacket is a legendary film and lets face it alot went on in vietnam for more than one story to come out

Yes, I know FMJ is legendary, but fact is that it came out AFTER Boys in Company C, see what I mean?
