Terrore nello Spazio - quite typical classic scifi flick, although this one is from 1965 and by this time better scifis had been made. The atmosphere is quite OK, although it has to pick up pace in the beginning. What happens in this movie is not very original, but it gets worked out nicely enough. There's a twist which I consider to be quite cool for the 60s.
Johnny Sunshine Maximum Violence - well, what to say? While watching this I was often wondering for what kind of audience this was made. If you're into movies about snuff, you don't get to see much background, only a few scenes which were to be used for an upcoming snuff release. If you're into anything else, you don't get what you expect. The violence was cliche and very repetitive, some fighting scenes lasted for 10 minutes, BORING!! The voice over was overly dramatic/cool, just didn't fit in with the atmosphere (wait, was there an atmosphere at all?) and some scenes were outright pathetic, just put in to give the movie an arty feeling or something. Waste of time and money. AVoid.

Mirrors ~ Wasnt the best movie in the world. Wasnt the worst. Kinda slow at times but still entertaining for the most part. Amy Smarts "scene" was pretty killer. It's been done before in things like.... Oh whats that movie... Dead Silence. This however was more memoriable, and she's smokin hot. I'd give it a good.... 6/10. Worth watching once.
Dead like me:Life after death ~ Wasn't what I was expecting it to be. But a solid movie none the less. Some neat idea's in it. Recomended for a watch I suppose. Id actually rate it a bit higher than Mirror's even though it's not really.. a horror movie at all (which is what I was expecting.) 7/10

Peter Rottentail - man, this movie sucks. It has not only the stupidest and ugliest rabbitmonster ever, it is also very boring and predictable. Being a B-movie fan I had some minor fun with this, as the jumpsounds of the rabbit are hilarious and his presence and behaviour overall ridiculous. Only for those who really really like B-movies.
Cyborg Soldier - I expected a lot of exaggerated scifi mumbo jumbo, but I was let down by this movie which kind of tried to take a serious approach to cyborgs (yes, they did). Ethical stuff like "how human is he?" etc. took the fun out and Tiffany didn't even get close show some skin. Avoid.
Hunting Creatures - despite the title, this is a German film and it is low budget. Actually I could stop writing here as you all know what to expect from German low budget horror flicks. Loads of gore, no/thin storyline, bad acting. Better than Das Komabrutale Duell, as this one at least seemed to have some sort of story. Only if you like B-movies.
Werewolf in a Woman's Prison - wow, this was a treat! Bad movies like they should be: women's prison stuff mixed with an incredibly unbelievable looking werewolf, top it off with several cliches of the genre and you have yourself a nice evening watching this. Recommended.
Brain Dead - I wasn't expecting much, because the title looked so much like a rip-off. What a nice surprise I was in for! This movie was actually very enjoyable, I especially loved the scenechanges, which were very original and funny. The storyline was OK in this one and the gore not too much. The only thing I didn't like was that there was actually only 1 zombie, the others looked more like Buffy-vampires. Still I had a lot of fun and this was the best movie I have seen in the past week. Recommended!

The Day The Earth Stood Still - quite nice, I liked the atmosphere and the powerless feeling of man against the overwhelming forces of extraterrestrial life. Since you might think now that this is a bout an invasion, you're wrong. Jennifer was good once again. Oh, and maybe Keanu Reeves should stop taking roles other than these.
Feast 3, the happy finish - like part 2, the feeling of recognition with the characters and the monsters makes you feel comfortable watching this. There were some funny parts in this one. I couldn't say which one I liked better, I think I liked this one just a tad better than part 2 where those Mexican mini guys took up way too much screentime. Part 1 still stands out as the best one for me. All in all, quite enjoyable.

The last house on the left (finally) ~ Was expecting alot more than I got out of it. Overall though, it was pretty decent I thought. Krueg is rather heartless. BLOW YOUR FUCKING BRAINS OUT. Liked that part. The way the parents didnt totally change from normal to phsyco out of nowhere was nice too.
Unrest ~ Was alright. Cadavers haunting med students was a new one to me. Not much to say otherwise, it was rather "usual" in content. Kinda slow start to it.
The Gravedancers ~ I liked it. Again slow in the beginning but the last half of the movie totally picked up imo. The Piano teacher was pretty wicked I thought. The CGi might have been a little over the top but at least it was "different" than the usual phantom/ghost/spirit look.
High Tension HD ~ One of the movies I really like. And oddly enough Its one I havent seen but a few times. HD really made a difference in some of the gore scenes I thought. Just a killer movie to me. French chicks are hot.

Southland Tales (2006): This was total junk. The whole movie is bullshit if you ask me. So many characters and the whole thing didn't make sense to me. It could be considered weird, but even weird movies are better than this. I didn't get it at all. Psychotica (2006): Most recent movie directed by Sebastian Radtke. It is simple and bloody. It has few characters but a nice twist at the end. I liked it. House Of The Dead 2 (2005): A total zombie massacre movie. Stupid special forces guys being totally helpless against a zombie outbreak in a high-school. This is meant to be fun, nothing more. If you like that idea, you will like the movie too. Leviathan (1989): Just watched this and enjoyed it very much. The underwater station is designed in a very cool manner. The movie is filled with known actors and the mutated monster looks nice too. It's a pity that the shots of the monster are so rare. I would have liked to see more of those creatures. Pan's Labyrinth (2006): Some may disagree with me, but I don't consider this good. There are so few monsters and so much military cruelty shown in this movie that you can barely even consider it horror. It's more like a war movie and the whole story is set up as such. Hackers (1995): No horror, but fun to watch action movie about hackers rebelling against law and trying to blow the whistle on the ex. hacker security employee of a huge US company. I love the joke with the pool on the top of the school building...

I watched Quarentine today. I saw that alot of people thought it was inferior to .rec. Man, if it is, I want to see .rec now. I loved it. I never watched the Blair Witch mumbo jumbo so... I guess the camera didnt bother me oh so much. The main chick was a pretty good screamer imo. Annoying... but thats what makes a screamer good right? They scream till you WANT them to die lol.
Anyhow, thought it was marvelous.

A storm overloads the mainframe server and turns a motion capturing suite into a monster, that is killing the game developers. I think this is a so bad it's good movie. |
House of the Dead 2 is shit, but in a good way. I have watched that a few times when stoned and bored. Kind of like one of those little time wasting games you get, just pick up and play for 10 minutes. How to make a monster is one that I have on DVD, I once tried to convince my kids that I worked at a place like that. I am not sure they believed me though. Currently watching a lot of science orientated material, my brain is having one of its funny five minutes where it has to absorb and comprehend information.

Only the rip, fairly certain the DVD is still here somewhere LOL
My filing system is fucking awesome, as you can see. I throw it in a corner and after an unspecified amount of time it reappears.

The Wizard of Gore - weird Gordon Lewis film, pretty bad story actually, you have to suspend disbelief beyond known borders to actually enjoy this. It was a kind of cute ilm as it was so "clumsy". Not gonna watch this one again I guess. Only for die hard Gordon Lewis fans.
Mutants - boring! Boring!! Misleading title: this film only has mutants in a small secondary role. The lead parts are all for "normal" people. Stay away, as you will regret having spent time to watch this. No funny sfx, no stupid jokes to laugh at, no revealing mistakes, just a plain BAD movie. Avoid.

Deadly Friend - 80s flick with the "scientist lost loved one and resurrects her" theme. Of course the resurrection is not very successfull. Atmosphere OK, but overall not a very impressive movie. What will remain are the basketball head explosion killing and a nice scene in which a dialogue gets switched to an outside view of the house while you hear one of the two boys who were having the conversation inside shout: "Are you out of your ucking mind?". I thought that was funny. Pretty OK, small recommendation.
The Pit - a hole in the ground inhabited by Critter lookalikes getting fed by a 12 year old. I liked they way he was portrayed as a boy with mental problems, he seems a bit autistic and it is acted out in a professional way, kudos to that kid. I really liked the ending. Recommended.

Videodrome (1983): Absolutely brilliant Cronenberg horror movie with a great James Woods. The head of a TV station is manipulated through a pirate TV signal which contains sexploitation scenes. He gets help from a previous victim of the hidden manipulative TV signal. Unfortunately that victim is already dead and left only VHS tapes with messages to him. Awesome story that seems totally bizarre until the end, when everything gets cleared up. I like it how this movie criticizes the increasing power and manipulative behavior of TV channels. Highly recommended!

Some non-horror:
War Hunt - nice flick about the Korean War (they really should make more movies about it, the Vietnam flush is getting old) with a young Robert Redford and a young Michael Ironside. The latter overacts a little near the end, but the rest of the film is decent and enjoyable.
Sheena - way too long (almost two hours) for this female Tarzan-like story. The story itself is interesting enough, but it could have been told in a shorter timespan. I laughed at the zebras (painted horses) and the overall shamanistic stupidity.

Entrails of a Virgin - why did they make this? Porn with a slim horror storyline. Superfluous, waste of time, useless effort.
Big Bad Wolf - pretty funny. Again, the werewolf is known to the viewer and the main characters pretty soon, but to destroy it takes most of the time in the movie. I liked the way the werewolf was half human, even in its wolf-form. It talked witty oneliners which were corny sometimes, but also enjoyable. Not the best werewolf movie I know and that is mostly due to lack of atmosphere. A fun flick however, just not one which will last forever in your memory.

Dangerous Worry Dolls - recent full moon flick and after having read the disgust of so many about full moon going awry I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Although it still has those silly mistakes ("It is time to go" while pointing at a clock which stands still), I enjoyed this one. If you don't mind if there are some mistakes around, go watch this, it's fun. Wicked Lake - this one I read a lot of bad stuff about. I expected some teenager campout with all the cliches and them being slashed down 1 by 1 the way it has been done 10.000 times before. I was surprised. The film starts out as

Not the best I have seen, but some original thopughts in this one. If it had been performed better (ie, without stupid/ueseless characters and with some more character development) this could have been one of the better films of its year. Splatter Naked Blood - Japanese weirdness again. Takes some time to get into it, as the story develops slowly. After that, the usual Jap gore stuff with some original new things in it. If you like Japanese weirdness check it out.

Draculas Widow - lacked a bit of the atmosphere you get in most older vampiremovies, but it is rather late (1988), so... Nice storyline, nice acting, although I didn't like the widow herself. Apart from the fact she looks like she is a giant, she wasn't very attractive and her acting was below average. All in all I enjoyed it, but older vampire flicks like Twins of Evil appeal more to me. Carnosaur - yay, stop-motion isn't dead! It is alive and kicking in Carnosaur and you WILL know it, haha! One of the stupidest scientific "ideas" of the world is the backgroundstory of this monsterflick
Spoiler: |
a female scientist is working on a project to give the earth back to the dinosaurs

. We get many action scenes between the raptorlike creature on one side and policemen, environmentalists and security guards on the other. It is all pretty predictable, but I really liked the ending, which was an exception to this rule.
