Here's a short clip from Alexandre Aja's remake of the Hills Have Eyes. Considering what he did with Haute Tension and from this clip, I'd say for once we can have high hopes for this one. http://www.theluckyonesdiefirst.com/ |

Aja is an excellent choice for this project, it looks terrific. I can't remember the last time I expected a Hollywood horror movie to be good (if ever, actually ![]() |

the trailer itself really impressed me. the editing techniques in the trailer are hip and slighty innovative. the boy in the movie was in tobe hooper's Mortuary and the girl was in Supercross with the guy from the texas chainsaw massacre remake. the clips in the trailer seemed genuine enough to merit some good expectations. |

a first review of the movie just popped up (sorry, it's in French): http://www.excessif.com//news.php?14538 Acccording to the guy, you can forget about any other 'survival' movie of the last years ... This one is supposed to be THE ONE ... I'm going to Belgium to see it next week at the Brussel Fantasy Film Festival. Will give you my opinion on that ![]() |

Wowsers! I thought the HHE remake was pretty harsh... Maybe ive gotten a bit soft in my old age, but I found the whole caravan attack, really put my nerves through the wringer.. A couple of cheezy scenes aside, like Rubys dive at the end, or the reunion scene, once the action got going, hats off, it was pretty relentless. Although numerous scenes and slices of dialogue were lifted directly from the original, it was nice to see a few new nightmare scenes thrown in for good measure (Dougs trip to the Freezer was a little too close for comfort), although im pretty dubious on the necessity of the whole "Nuclear" family idea. I missed Mars' bad teeth for one... It also seemed the characters were pretty well rounded and developed.. at least, they were a lot better defined than in the original. In the original, big Bob was a teddy bear, but in the Remake, I wouldnt have f*cked wit him.. Doug really had the Geeky pussy played up, although it really took a little too long for my money to get him to snap, he was a f*ckin sight by the end It was nice to see Pluto getting an upgrade, but most shocking of all, was Papa Jupe, hitting the blocks like Antropophagus on Amphetamine I think being a "Horror of Human nature" film made it all the more scary, but for my money, its gonna take some beatin in 2006... Go Alexandre Aja, For my money, Horrors new hero! (sorry for poor structure, just got back. Hopefully future rants will be a little more grammatically correct...) |

I went and saw this last night and i thought it was brilliant. It was very graphically violent and for a modern hollywood movie it was pretty gory. There were one or two cheesy moments but they didn't affect the movie at all. The only other film that was as unflinching in its brutality INMO was 'The Devils Rejects'. I give the film a big thumbs up. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Ashamed to say that I never got around to watch the orgiginal, but I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the remake. I think I might even have liked it if I hadn't been stoned! Especially noticed the agressive use of background music. It got a little too much at times, but overall it worked pretty well. The were a few dud moments here and there, some silly dialogue, and a few unnecessary explainations, but I'll forgive it all on account of the quite brilliant violence. |
