nope there were Ringu, than again Ringu and only after that Rasen, virus, ringu0 ann ringu 2. read that one. i got it from somewhere.. forgot where. "There will be SO many people getting confused by all the previous versions of Ring, I thought I'd help clear it up... There are, in total, SEVEN previous versions or sequels of Ring, or Ringu or whatever we call the whole thing. They are Ringu: Kanzen-ban (1995), the original TV movie. That was remade in 1998 as Ringu, the most well-known of the Japanese films. That was followed by THREE sequels, not two. They are Ringu 2 (also well known and a direct follow-up to Ringu), Raisen (also 1998, but more of a spin-off) and Ringu 0: Baasudei (2000). Ringu (1998) was then itself remade (!) in 1999 as Ring (the film on this web page), also Japanese but completely different. THEN, they made a TV series called "Ringu: Saishuu-sh?" (1999). So that makes it the 1995 movie, the 1998 remake and it's three sequels (1998-2000), the second remake in 1999, and the TV series, also 1999. Anyone still confused? Oh, and now the American remake. Have you read Koji Suzaki's novels too? I haven't read em but I bet they are good if they have so many adaptations of them
Koji Suzaki wrote "The Ring", which both series and Ringu are based on and it's sequel, "Rasen", which The Spiral is based on (this is the proper sequel to the Ringu, or at least the literary sequel, Ring 2 was based on the first movie) I might see if I can track down a translation of both through the library. |

the only things that scare we are like the innevitable monster/things/forces in movies. like the cenobytes when somebody is messin with a box, where even death isnt an escape. that, and .... ......... ........................................ ......................................... ................................. .......................................... ......Answer To Greek question is................................... ............'with a crowbar'............... ...................... l.................... .......................... |

for me is the psychological break down or aspects such as that that I find scarier, for example films involved or surrounding mental asylums. Monster movies only make you jump, but films where the horror is psychological have a lasting impact. I can't really say a movie that has truely scared me though, when Exorcist was unbanned, I was far too old, the only films I can remember being scared by were when I was little and they were films like Poletergeist and Ghostbusters. It was amazing I got to see Poltergeist really because I managed to get the VCR working and turned the tv onto the right channel at the age of 1 and a half (about I think) |

I'll pick two. One of the earliest things that scared me was the tv-series The Incredible Hulk. Next and as of late would have to be one of the Japanese horrors. I'll say Ringu, but there are others. |

i?d say The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, actually it wasn?t that scary in a 'BOO'-kind of way but in terms of disturbing me, it must have triggered some subconscious fears or something. |

I think it's disturbing in the kind of way films like Deliverance are, in that its horrific what people can do or go through. |

it is also that it plays on a certain fear of the backlands, far away from urban enviroment, without many signs of civilization, a room where a lot can happen without anyone noticing. also a certain sense of class-struggle, the left-overs of progress and evolution eing out there. and not to forget, a fucking butcher with a mask made out of skin! |
