Resident Evil: Thread

Games

Resident Evil 5

This game will be a full sequel and is developed from the RE4 control mechanism (read: hella-cool). Slated for release on Xbox360 and PS3.

- Famitsu speculates the character looks like Chris but no confirmation.
- Production Studio 4 or Clover Studios is NOT involved in the development of RE5 which probably means neither is Shinji Mikami..
- RE5's producer is Jun Takeuchi from Studio 2. His credits include Street Fighter II, RE, RE2 and Onimusha 1 & 2.
- Unresolved mysteries from the first game will be revealed
- Game takes place in Somalia, Africa
- The team is currently working on the 'invisible effects' like wind movements, illusions due to the intense heat, briefly to make us feel the scorching temperature
- Takeuchi said that the models for the game will be the most detailed and realistic ever seen; the hairs on the head and the face of the character will be rendered individually
- Finally, Takeuchi estimates 3 to 5 years of production time

RE5 Teaser Trailer (10/04/2005) (mov)

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles aka. Resident Wiivil

Information on this game has just emerged. Although it would seem a lightgun game would be the most obvious way of cashing in, seems that its not the case at all, and they are using the RE4 style of play, like in RE5.
It is set alongside the 4 official resident evil games, and is a completely new game.

The following inofmration has been revealed by Capcom-Europe:
http://forum.capcom-europe.com/viewtopic.php?t=11024 wrote:
Four chapters will be available, each chapter will have 2 playable characters
Chapter 1 - BH1 Mansion - Jill and Chris
Chapter 2 - BH2 RPD - Claire and Leon
Chapter 3 - BH3 Racoon City - Jill and Carlos
Chapter 4 - BH4 Village - Leon and Ada

  • Additional characters can be unlocked by playing the game, such as Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker
  • The gameplay will be similar to BH4, use the Wiimote to trigger the over-the-shoulder view, use the nunchuk to fire
  • All characters will have different weapons and melee attacks like in BH4, you can find additional weapons in the stage
  • Each character can only carry 2 weapons, such as Chris' pistol and shotgun, and Jill's pistol and grenade launcher
  • The main game Scenario Mode will have in-game cutscenes, each chapter will have new contents which link to Umbrella's status

There is an Arcade Mode which plays like the BH4 Mercenaries mini game

Resident Evil: Extinction

Sony Screen Gems has announced a September 7, 2007 release date for Resident Evil: Extinction, which stars Mike Epps, Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Iain Glen, Debra Marshall, Ashanti Douglas, Ali Larter and Chris Egan. In addition this Saturday, July 29th on SPIKE TV, a new episode of 'Gamehead' will be on set of the film and talk with Milla Jovovich and director Russell Mulcahy. 'El_renegado89' writes in that it's also rumored that they will show a special clip of the movie during the show. Milla Jovovich is back as Alice, and she's running with a new pack of humans, leading a caravan that's cutting through the Nevada desert on a long trek to Alaska. Hunted by the minions of the perpetually scheming Dr. Isaacs, Alice has zombies hungry for her flesh (once again) and lab rats hungry for her blood -- while Alice is hungry for only one thing: revenge.

If that game is half as good as the 4th, it'll be the gaming highlight of the year.

Getting moist in the man-pocket just thinking about it!

It doesn't look like they've changed the engine enough for that, its going to be great, RE4 made sure of that but remember the people behind Diablo have Hellgate: London out, Spore is out, so too are Crysis and Bioshock (system shock3). Hopefully it will outdo my expectations :)

PC is going to own next year, those titles look exceptional enough to make PC top platform.
