I've always been a fan of Rob's music and movies and I am really excited to see this new movie... and wasn't there supposed to be a new Halloween coming out before this one?

in 2005, they were starting the beginnings of what would have been Halloween 9 ... but in Novemeber of that year, Moustpha (sorry if i spelled his name wrong) died and all plans were scrapped.

after the God-awful Halloween: Resurrection, writers weren't sure what else to do next and the series was/is pretty much dead.

Zombie stepped in and annouced his 're-imagining' of the original film.

The problem with Rob Zombie is that he's horribly over-rated. He has enough talent and enthusiasm to make a good movie if he has a few years to edit it, but put him on a regular schedule and you get a mediocre western. Now, of course, Halloween has many western elements, but I'd rather not see it turned into something mediocre (the first one, I mean. Mediocre would be a step up for most of the sequels).

I feel like this movie could be good, but I don't want to get my hopes up and then be dissapointed. So I'm just gonna sit this one out and wait for the movie to come out.

This movie will be good as Zombie knows what he is doing.

Well, I for one hope it is good. I love the Halloween series and
I love John Carpenter. From what I hear, it is more of a prequel
or in Zombie's words a 'reimagining'. Let's just keep our fingers
crossed...

At first I wasn't too happy that one of my favorite movies was being re-made, but reading all of the interviews with Zombie and the cast and seeing the pics/trailer, I'm confident that he's making a good movie. Myers looks damn good and is actually scary again. I can't wait to see it.

I suppose if someone has to remake Halloween it should be Mr. Zombie.

He's kept Michael pretty much the same (boiler suit & Shatner mask) too. I wonder how much gore will be present giving that the original went for suspense rather than blood.

That's why i'm not excited by this in any way.

I hope he will respect the legend of the infamous Micheal Myers.... the last Halloween should be put into comedy category rather than horror...

This will be or very big shit, or very big hit! :D

SYNOPSIS

After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, is mistakenly released from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.

Zombie's vision of this film is an entirely new take on the legend and will satisfy fans of the classic "Halloween" legacy while beginning a new chapter in the Michael Myers saga. "This is a bit of a prequel and a remake, combined," says Zombie.

I really excited to see this but there is no way in hell that Rob Zombie will pull this off if its like his other Gore fest movies. The whole point of Halloween was the suspense the knowing that something was gonna happen. Only like 5 people died and there was 0 gore. If he makes it a splatter 100 death movie like his others its gonna be pure shit.

just my thoughts...

I saw the trailer in the theatre and was struck with how Rob Zombie it felt. So, basically, it is Texas Chainsaw Massacre remade as Halloween.

I'll watch it, at least Uwe Boll or Micheal Mann didn't touch it! Did Carpenter Exec Prod?

Probably. He execed on The Fog remake, too, so we can't take that too seriously. I don't blame him, though. Its a paycheck for nothing.
