The Haunting (not the remake!) and Ringu (Japanese one) are two that spring to mind right away for me. I haven't been really scared by a movie since I was 12 mind, but these two are pretty chilling. Seeing as you're new here it might be a good idea to introduce yourself in the "new members say hello" thread (but it's not compulsory  ).

I've always thought The Changeling with George C. Scott was pretty damn creepy. It takes a little while to build up, but it's worth it.

agreed ringu is a good film to be creeped out with, ju-on also has that effect as for scary i don't think there has been one thats genuinely scary, theres been some thats been scary to think its made millions at the boxoffice but nothing to have sleepless nights over

Agreed, Ringu. The noise the wolf makes on the moors at the start of American Werewolf in London always used to send a shiver down my spine. More recent ones? I may well be in the minority here, but 'Dead End' had a few moments, and 'Fragile', yeah, the Calista Flockhart one, chilled me when you first see the 'Nurse'. 'May' I also found to be very creepy. |
