I... I mourn now.... I knew death comes to all and like....but for some things you just can't prepare yourself ..... ....Just read yourself... I guess it was only a matter of time before some arsehole saw the financial potential of remaking this infamous beast.... We need a online petition ![]() Lets call on spud to make one on his website .... I'm in for a lynching party !!!!! |

I think that the remake of this remake, 10 years from now, will be awesome! ![]() |

The original came out in the 50's. Johns was made about 25 years later in 1982......so this is about 25 years later........I just hope they can work miracles ![]() |

Sweet steaming balls! Does every single half decent film have to be remade for the fucking MySpace generation? Pile of wank. The original, which I watched again about 3 weeks ago, for what must be the 30th time, is fucking brilliant. Those effects alone shit on almost everything that has come since. It's a fantastic film. Why can't these profit whores leave it alone. Sorry about the swearing. Cunts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wait. It might not be all bad as expected. It all depends on how much influence JC has on the production or consultation of such. |

ummmmmmmm.....Carpenters film was a re-make as well. A sort of continuation also. Why consult with him? I wonder what the fans of the original thought of the carpenter remake at the time? |

They probably wouldn't have minded since the director of the remake had proven himself to be a competent filmmaker. I wonder which music video director will get his/her "breakthrough" with this one. ![]() |

Marc Abraham and Eric Newman of Strike Entertainment, which previously teamed with Universal on the DAWN OF THE DEAD update, will produce, and David Foster (a veteran of the '82 THING)will executive-produce. |

So..? ![]() There are just as many people who dislike the DAWN remake as there are who love it , but that aside... I mean, what made the thing ('82) a classic was mainly Rob Bottin's special effects... some good cinematography , being faithfull to the original book , some decnt acting and a haunting score ... All due respect to Mr.Carpenter, but he was just so lucky to be there to can it all together on film.... Closest recent thing to this is Slither.... And to me at least what it's CGI demonstrated was that a proper Thing remake is at least another 10 years off.... and don't get me started on bringing a movie "into more recent times" (READ: MTV-sation , or "update" as you so positively spin it) There'll probably be more emphasis on Action , to feed that goddamn Ringtone generation ......Like we needed another DOOM movie... Likely to be included are some women, since a movie with only men is considered to be discriminating if not just plain gay... Maybe even a child will be written into it ![]() Oh my god I can already see some no good rapper or fucking awfull $200 garage band make the title song ![]() ...and if any of you think I'm hysteric you shut the **** up and go watch the first 15 mins of the FOG remake again... ![]() I just have no faith whatsoever in producers, directors or actors.... In creature flicks , it's SFX what matters.... and who's hired to make them... They'll probably hire Carpenter so they can put his name on the poster somewhere to try and "re-assure" us that it's all ok.... End rant for now/ Still pissed. |

oh yeah... missed this... Carpenters was a remake technically, yes - no argument there. But his version is generally considered to be more faithfull to the book "Who goes there ? " where it's all based on... eh...that is ... they do plan to base the Re-remake on the book ? |

note: writer of this remake = the guy who's done the battlestar Gallactica remake, which is in all fairnessm one of the best remakes I've ever seen. Its definitely the best show on tv this side of south park these days anyway. Even though i think this is a silly decision they could have chosen someone a lot worse to pen it. Just for reasons of balance, I have to say I really enjoyed the 50's version the two times I've seen it. However, societal trends shifted far more dramatically between the 50's and the 80's then they have from the 80's until now. I know the counter arguments to this can find many examples to dispute what I'm saying; but... Oh blah, blah, blah. I still can't think of any way that this film can be justified without thinking it all comes down to profit and nothing else. £5 says it'll be a dumbed down peice of crap. |

![]() ![]() They should just take the best directors and re-make all their movies one by one. I want all Kubrick movies re-made. Starring prefferably Justin Timberlake in Clockwork Orange. ![]() |
