I didn't see a thread on this already so here goes..

Image

Throughout the 1990s, a serial killer terrorized upstate New York. After a decade-long crime spree conducted largely under the radar of law enforcement, the killer left behind the most disturbing collection of evidence homicide detectives had ever seen hundreds of homemade videotapes that chronicle the stalking, abduction, murder, and disposal of his victims.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes examines these horrific tapes at length: what they reveal about the killer, why they were made, and how FBI profilers have used them to better understand violent, psychopathic behavior. The Poughkeepsie Tapes combines interviews surrounding the devastating impact of the Water Street Butcher with shocking footage from the tapes themselves.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes documents the actual experience of encountering a deranged serial killer. Never before has an audience been exposed so directly to terror so real. For the first time, the public will see the horrifying images that FBI profilers have studied for years.

I got this as a rapidshare pick-up. It hasn't been IVTC'ed and it hasn't been de-interlaced either, so I was gonna wait for '88 to get that other one (...hopefully it's better quality) but do you think it's worth making a release thread for this one in the mean time?

Here's the info on it and a couple of screenshots....

Post subject:  Re: The Poughkeepsie Tapes

I've just watched the rip I got via torrent:

Total Size (MB) ....: 1,685.68 MB

Video Length .......: 01:24:11
Video Codec Name ...: OpenDivX (DivX 4.0 and later)
Video Bitrate ......: 4560 KB/s
Resolution .........: 720 x 480
Aspect Ratio .......: 1.50:1
Framerate ..........: 29.97 FPS
Quality Factor .....: 0.440 B/px

Audio Codec Name ...: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3)
Audio Bitrate ......: 64 KB/s (CBR)
Channels ...........: 2 Ch
Sampling Rate ......: 48000 Hz

It's a weird file size and the wrong AR, but the image quality is better (the video bitrate is insane!) than the one junkboy posted. Also when I watched it on my WDTV player it showed up as being 50 minutes long, but continued playing after that point okay until the end.

I'll post a few screenshots tomorrow and see if anyone's interested.

I grabbed this a little while back (can't recall where though) and watched it. Very good and often disturbing film, the ending in particular was quite fucked and a bit of a shocker. Very good film.
