Right I watched Friday 13th Part 2 last night (not for the first time!)

And something struck me as absolutly bizzarre!!!

At the beginning when Jason kills Alice in her kitchen, before leaving he actually takes the kettle off the boil

Not what the hell where the script writers/producers/directors thinking?

Why do they show a vicious undead killer, taking a boiling kettle off the boil?

Any-one else remember thinking this is a bit strange?

Is it something you'd expect the Jason Vorhees we all know do?

Coz it aint for me :?

I didn't think it was Jason in part 2, wasn't it just some bloke with a bag on his head?

[edit]
No, I just looked on IMDB and it's Jason, show how much attention I paid to that particular installment
[/edit]

Perhaps Jason snuck in on a Health and Safety meeting @ camp crystal and decided to practice what he'd learnt.

Yeah, I thought at first it was be some human bloke acting as jason with a sack on his head!

But it's the real deal - Jason Vorhees!

But to be honest, the film company that thought, I know stick a sack on his head that'll be scary, wouldn't be too bothered about the kettle incident!

I hope the chap that came up with the idea of the hockey mask in Part 3 is earning his royalties, coz lets face it, Freddy Vs. Jason(with a sack on his head instead of a Hocley Mask) would never have worked along with the other 7 sequals!

Discussed Part 2 + 7 = 9 and i mentioned FvJ already
So thats them all, I think

It's just wierd, why they did it.

Obviousley they did it for a reason.

i mean they set the kettle up to whistle and pan the camera acrross as we watch Jason take it off the boil.

It's a very planned scene.

Oh and PCA, been meaning to ask, whats with the change of avatar?

Jason was cool, and wheres this new moving one from!

I like it, just wondering why the change, or is that the answer - change?

Might change mine to, but I'm a sucker for tradition!

Does he do it so as to not draw attention to the body straight away? I.E, if people hear the kettle boiling they'll come running straight away

Fancied a change of avatar, I like this one, it's slightly disturbing IMHO ;). Jason was only ever temporary, It was found on the net at work the day I registered on this site ;)

Isn't it obvious? It's public service broadcasting in the F13 movies. Like the scene in Part 6 where he tells the two kids to look both ways before crossing the road, then guts them both with a meathook.

And the bit in part 4, where he switches the telly off standby (it still consumes 25% of its power you know) before nipping upstairs for a bit of machete butchering.

Come on lads, pay attention!!

Yes I suppose, but does Jason really care, if it is that then they still presumed Jason to my a normal serial killer bloke and not the undead zombie that emerged around 3/4/5.

We all know that he aint in the Part 1. And Part 2 he's very human like and killable.

Part 3 was in 3-D so they dispensed with the story line and went for gags.

So it's not untill Part 4 that Jason Vorhees is the hockey masked wearing undead/unstopable killer zombie we love!

Which means that there are only 7 Friday 13th movies with proper jason!!!, or would people say part 3 he's human or not?

Yeah, the evolution of this character is amazing. The mask does not appear until part 4, and in part 1 there's no Jason either! In part 2 he's just a killer, and then he becomes stronger with every sequel, to become the zombie finally...

But when is finally?

When would you say Jason evolved to the Jason on FvJ?

For me it's :

Part 2 he's just sack-head man
Part 3 he gets his mask (end)
Part 4 he comes back from the Dead
Part 5 he aint in!
Part 6 he's zombie and kick ass!

Now Friday 13th Part 6 is my fave, becuase I feel thats when Jason is the Jason that we all know/love, we see him rotting in a grave and then brought back to life/reanimated and in Part 6 he is a super bad killer!

I feel it all builds up to Part 6 and then he runs rampant

Yeah, the hockey mask made this guy special....and Kane Hodder, the "actor" who played Jason a few times (he didn't get the role in FvsJ because he was too big in comparison with Robert Englund!).
Check out the Jason-guy in part 5,much too slim too play Jason... :?

I think the peak of it's own style and comedy can be seen in part 6 and 7,there you get the Jason you want in a Friday the 13th - movie...

I think that's one shot from the tape in 'The Ring' :)
Nice avatar. Like it...

As for Friday13th discussion. Can't really participate as I have seen only 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th and with exception of first one all were over ten years ago
Guess, I'll rewatch them and other parts for the first when they all are available fully uncut like 1st one Image

Perhaps there was a scene cut out...Jason puts the boiling water on the corpse or sompn...?

Isn?t it so that those killers without a face are always the scariest? And even scarier it is, if you can?t figure out any reason or motivation for the killing.

I was very impressed by "Black Christmas" - cause you don?t see the killer not even in the end of the movie. You only HEAR him. And you are waiting the whole movie for an explanation but you won?t get it. That?s it, what makes this movie so effective i think.
By the way - has got anyone a good quality-rip of this classic? My versions a fuckin bad vhs-rip........

There is a deep meaningful answer. Everyone knows that to have a truely evil bad guy in hollywood, he must be british. The tea scene was a way of revealing that Jason is actually English

Similarly, this is a clue of how to destroy Jason for ever, sink the tea shipment! (and what would be the worst thing that could happen? A war? Unlikely ;) )

i must totally agree with DJBenz here, if a kettle boils u take it of, if u dont u know whats gonna happen. and u always look both sides when u cross a road, dont want to be killed by a car anyone know that. the old tv's can handle 24/7 so they must be shut down if not fire will or can happen... i guess there is more hidden things also in these movies. i havent payed to much attention except when the killing starts....
