Hi. I just want to draw your attention to a series in SR: Dead like Me
Ok, it is not really horror, but close enough for me. And it is funny. At least the first two episodes were great. :D :D

Ok ok, all you horror fanatics who need splattering blood and brains badly: Stay away. It also contains no nudity. So I suppose it is worthless for 90% of you.

No, it's not that. I just thought it was very artificial. Wasn't funny for me.

In a film I need at least 4 of the following for me to watch with any interest:-

Tits
Blood and guts
Explosions
Dead things that are re-animated
Demons/possessions
Shagging
Necrophilia, well just a touch LOL

Things like storylines or plots are not that important in a horror to me, but are extremely important if I am watching a "proper" film or a sci-fi flick.

I've had the pilot for ages lying around. Guess I'll check it out.

Just don't see it as horror film, but as an interesting episode of twilight zone or outer limits. :-)

it's okay, but it's not Carniv?le! Carniv?le is probably the best show on this season :)

I've only seen the first 2 eps of carnivale myself, and I'm hooked. Was thinking about writing another bitch-ass long review about why I love it, but guess I should watch more of it first. Eh, or maybe ship it all together.

Actually I'm not sure why Carnivale pops up in the thread on Dead Like Me, I wouldn't compare those two.

Anyway, here's another good occasion to praise it. Yeah, this show rocks!

Only seen first three eps of Carniv?le so far. Don't like it 'really' much, but it interests me that much that I'll check out all eps. Just out of curiosity wanna see what happens =)

that is the first and only negative thing I've heard about Carniv?le ever (TM).

The series is going from strength to strength, I hope I'm not the only one that's seeing it like that. The latest episodes are great.
and for perverts, watch 1x11 for lesbians. (Maybe I can get people hooked on this great series that way :) )

As for the first few episodes, they are nothing, they are slowly easing you into it. A lot of 'stuff' slowly happens :)

I suppose that is the only thing I don't like about it. I don't usually watch series, so I guess since I really like this one that I'll have to get over the long drawn-out story line.

one of the things that struck me about Carnivale was that each ep is more like a movie than an episode for a serie.

Yeah, with cliffhangers worse than Batman.

They have different directors and writers if I remember correctly from checking out the hbo site.

@karstmobile, if your not a series watcher, then the main concept is main plot, series plot, episode plot and of course the sub plots.

The main plot normally develops very slowly, but hits a head/revalation at the end of the series. The series plot is normally an aspect of the main plot in isolation. The episode plot is normally character development and background until half way through the series. Sub-plots are what I call the little side tracks that each episode follows.

All series apart from comedies follow this kind of structure. When I say the plot is being revealed slowly, I refer to the series, and in the case of a single season show the main plot too. The series, really picks up when the rev goes off the rail (although the episodes merge into one beautiful 'movie')

That's what I meant, but it's a lot of commitement and I see why it can be annoying to people without the time to commit themselves to watching the series. Even then, cinematography, acting and direction is first rate. Oh and management is cool :)

I definitely agree with each episode like a movie, they are an hour long and are great throughout.

I'm not sure about writers, I thought it was two people, directors change with the regular director doing the important episodes (like Joss Whedon with angel/buffy i guess :) )
