Post subject:  Traces of Death

I downloaded this the other day and was a bit suprised to find out that the last 15 minutes of this film is nothing more than a DvD logo screen. As this is someones elses rip and I am not sure if it has been released on mule or not I was wondering if I should clip those off or just leave the file as it is.I know it's a bit taboo to go changing others rips around but 15 minutes is alot,if this is any indication on what the other films were released like for dvd and saying they are uncut I think I will save my money. The dvd transfer looks about as good as my tape rip so it doesn't look like they put a whole lot of effort on making decent dvds of this series, still may order #5 though sonce I am still missing that.
By the way before the question is even asked, yes its feroxs rip and yes I got it from BT.I am still going to post this up in the shock thread but I am wonderign what you all think I should do here, certainly don't want to step on toes but that much of a logo screen is just wasted bandwidth in my opinion.

Sounds like the ripper made a screw up and selected the wrong vobs. direct stream copy the titles away and load it into gspot. See what the bitrate is, because if it is very low then leave it in.

Otherwise strip the logo out and post exactly what you did. This way anyone who gets it from torrent can do the same to the milisecond and get the same hash.

Cool, I was hoping that you would respond to this as it was a bit on the taboo side fuckign with others rips, especially ferox who has released some pretty damned good shit over the last month or two.
Here is the original file d/l from BT
Name.........: traces of deatth.ripped.by.ferox.uncut.extreme..avi
Filesize.....: 661 MB (or 677,255 KB or 693,509,762 bytes)
Runtime......: 01:32:04 (138,099 fr)
Video Codec..: DivX 5.0
Video Bitrate: 870 kb/s
Audio Codec..: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
Audio Bitrate: 128 kb/s (64/ch, stereo) CBR
Frame Size...: 640x336 (1.90:1) [=40:21]

and now here is the edit that I did
Name.........: traces of deatth.ripped.by.ferox.uncut.extreme-fixed.avi
Filesize.....: 590 MB (or 604,922 KB or 619,440,128 bytes)
Runtime......: 01:18:54 (118,340 fr)
Video Codec..: DivX 5.0
Video Bitrate: 912 kb/s
Audio Codec..: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
Audio Bitrate: 128 kb/s (64/ch, stereo) CBR
Frame Size...: 640x336 (1.90:1) [=40:21]

Clipped at Frame 118340 (1:18:53.600) [K]

Strange I used direct stream copy and it raised the bitrate :?
at any rate I cliped on a key frame so it would be real easy for everyone else.As you can see it was just under 15 minutes of that logo and 69 mbs cut off.Let me know what you think and I'll go from there. :beerchug:

Alot of tuna entries....you all must have hearty appetites.

You got the wrong end of what your looking at in gspot. Bitrate is not normally CBR (unless of course for some bizarre reason your a sadist), gspot reports an average of VBR bitrate. I don't see any reason for CBR for either audio or video when ripping to divx really anywya. You cutt out 15 mins of lowbitrate material, thusly the bitrate average rose to the new average:
(total bytesize of file - total bytesize of audio ) / length of movie = Average Byterate

i'd go with what ferox said unless of course, there is reason to doubt it?

no,not that if it is cut or not...hehe :outsider:
I guess I should have said clipped or unclipped...but that sort of sounded both nasty and painful at the same time so that;s why I said cut or uncut, sorry for the confusion.I don't think there is a dvd release of this that isn't uncut so yeah,no reason to dispute him on that.I am more in question of the company that actually released the dvd saying that it was a longer running time, maybe the logo screen was counted in or something.Marketing geniuses that they are. :?
