I've just seen the first episode and (sorry, Stephen) for me IT SUCKS DONKEY'S ASS. I was of course prejudiced from the very beginning, I don't deny. That's because I don't believe you can alter the original series and avoid spoiling its atmosphere. But this is something else. It looks like the series is just going to be really, really bad (I mean, even if we forget the fact it's a remake), just as Trier's version was brilliant, and perhaps one of the best horror series ever. No atmosphere at all (leave alone the fact that nothing left of the atmosphere of Riget). No wicked sense of humour, so important in the Danish production. The acting is just pathetic. The changes they made to the plot... I simply don't understand them. What's the purpose? And waht the fuck is this fucking talking aardvark doing there!? :matrix:

Please post your opinions, I just want to know - is it really that bad, or is something wrong with me?

have to say that i found it not that bad. have only seen the 1st episode so far but that one was ok imo.
liked that joggeraccident, yeah sorry, but looked funny to me, and those elevatorscenes are quite the same (creepy or not, they didn?t scare me in von triers version either).
the mongoloids are the actors from the original, up to now the storycourse is almost identical - hm, was wondering why king did this remake anyway, when he changed nothing aggravating.
i think after one episode its too early to damn or praise it - i?ll follow up.

ah come on grindhouse, dreamcatcher was cool. i liked it. :o

as gorehound i don't think the first episode is too bad. but as far as i remember the whole accident and recovery scenes are new. for me the story is even that different from the original that maybe king's version shouldn't be too much compared to von trier's.

anyway, i will go on watching the series until it gets really worse.

in my oppinion dreamcatcher was fine until the first alien is introduced. the first half of the movie has quite a lot of suspense. but from then on the story is just pathetic. and in this movie there is one of the most stupid scenes ever. where the jason lee character is sitting on the toilet seat with a killer worm under his ass, and he is REALLY brainless enough to stand up and get his toothpick. well after that i absolutely enjoyed watching him getting killed.

those additional scenes are in there to roll out the whole thing cause kings remake only contains the first season of the original.
putting aside that joggeraccident i found this 1st episode much the same as the 1st episode from the original.
the psychic woman in the elevator hearing the child, the arrival of Dr. Stegman and the crew laughing at him whilst he?s securing his car....et cetera...

I have never seen the original... So I have to say I like it so far. But then again I have read all of his books so it is hard for me to say anything bad about him.... I will say not one movie can compare to his books.

what language is the original?
