Just wondering if any people have had positive experience with "animal horror" flicks, i personally have yet too see one that i (actually) enjoy. though i have heard earth vs the spider is very good, and will soon check out, as well as the birds.. But other then that when you go to rent a movie and you see, "rats" "Rodentz" "Anaconda" "Snake" mosqiuto" etc etc, beside some other just as bad movie, at least with a strange monster on the cover, which one would you be more likely to choose?.. it just seems all so dull, as soon as a real animal becomes the subject of horror to me it's just not going to be that scary because the horror movie already has limits..

So i was wondering if people feel the same way, can an animal bring forth fear, in the hearts of a serious horror fanatic? I think ultimatley no, movies based apon animals are NOT scary at all.. but maybe i just seen the wrong flicks..

I am talking movies based on that animal, not including animals (like pet cemetery)

hoping someone can prove me worng and maybe steer me and anyone else toward a good flick..

I thought 'Eight legged Freaks' was entertaining. One of the very rare incidents where cgi monsters actually looked good.

Stephen King's Graveyard shift was OK.

Really enjoyed King's 'Cat's Eye' too.

Birds was cool.

Brotherhood of the Wolf was average.

Spider scened in fulchi's 'The Beyond' was kinda cool. oh and the 'dog attack' scene..

Company of Wolves was very unique IMO.

Argento's segment in 'Two Evil Eyes': 'The Black Cat' was awesome IMO. I love Keitel though.

The original 'Jaws' was kinda cool.

Oh yeah check out 'The Believers'. That had a certain scene which made me jump involving a little bug....

Sesame Street is pretty scary shit. Disney too.

Don't forget Tentacles or Last shark either.Prophecy has something that resembles an animal in it..albiet a real fucked up looking one.

yeah, I think sharks do it for me :)
I love Deep Blue Sea and Jaws are all classic ;)

Can't recall any other "scary" animal flick...
Dog Soldiers was not a bad film but not that scary really. It was more like action than horror.

People say Stephen King's Cujo is good, I've seen it only once and it was years ago so I remember nothing of it.

Man i remeber as a child I saw this flick where all animals went nuts and attacked not just humans but also other animals....
a scene where a lion nailed himself in the neck of a cow is still memorable....

and no it's not "Day of the animals".....

BTW does sea creatures count ?

suuureee sea creatures count..

I personally did not find jaws remotley scary even as a child, and dog soldiers were werewolves ;) and last time i checked we don't really have those in the animal kingdom..

I been doing some thinking and i remember one movie giving me nightmares as a kid, it had to do with a cat, and his somewhat handicapped owner, in the end the cat jumps into the guys mouth and forces him to choke on him, scary shit, but i was like nine then, it was a seris of short stories kinda a knock off of tales from the crypt, starts off with a woman going to bake a little kid (anyone know which flick i'm talking about?)

I know there are parts in films with beyond, that had some creepy animal flicks but the animal attacks were not the focus in the movie..

heheheh i'm surprised you liked eight legged freaks john doe, when i saw it i thought as far as acting and scare factor goes it was up there with bats (if you are familiar), and in case you forgot..

i think that 'anaconda', 'eight legged freaks' (that one is only funny)and 'jaws' are entertaining. but scary? not really. the only animal horror flick that comes to my mind right now and which was a bit scary is 'arachnophobia'.

Jaws is the best of the bunch. But I love shark movies. I even liked (not loved) Red Water.
Besides sharks, let's see, Ghost and the Darknees was a decent thriller. I can't think of any others. Oh wait, the best of the bunch, Phave IV. That was awesome.

Jon Voight beeing regurgitated up was the only redeeming factor in that movie...to much Ice cube imo.Just like LL cool J about ruined deep blue sea for me.Although I am down for anything with a shark in it...I just wish he would have gotten ate.

I missread your question. I thought you asked for decent movies, not scary ones. I've only been scared by a handfull of movies all my life and none of them were with animals I think... oh wait.. there where some scenes in Cannibal Holocaust with animals, but those weren't the ones that scared me the most.

thanks will be nice to check out again...

I guess there are some half decent animal flicks but seldom and few :P

I forgot to mention one ... dog day in the life was good.. hehehe
:beerchug:

I think when you watch as many horror movies it becomes harder to get sscarred, i'm in the same boat as john doe where few scare me as i'm sure everyone else, the only animal ones that scarred me invovling animals invovlved me being very young, but then again ghoulies scared the shit out of me when i was young (couldn't poop for a couple days).. so maybe those types of flicks will only really do anything for the squeemish :? or someone afraid of that paticular animal...
