Hi all!

I might take my girlfriend out to see this flick tonight, but since i have no idea of what to expect, i thought i'd just run the idea by you guys first. What do you think of it? Is it allright or would i be better off taking her to see something else?

/Bleargh!

If she's a Johnny Depp fan go ahead.

If she hates hackneyed plots and an oh so predictable "twist" at the end,KEEP AWAY!!

It's an okay movie with a wonderful performance by Depp, as usual.

If you saw the movie, The Dark Half, then you'll get a really good idea of what it's about. Both are by King. The short story that it's based on, Secret Window, Secret Garden, is much more solid with a slightly different ending to it that works much better than the movie's, in my opinion.

Yeah, i know "The Dark Half", i must admit i found it pretty dull though. We didn't go see Secret Window. We went out and played pool instead. Tomorrow, the Dawn of The Dead-remake is opening, so i'll take her out to see that one. (That's right, i know what women want!)

Very bad flick. Poor plot with very obvious and uninventive "twist" at the end. You can predict the ending after the first 30 minutes.

It was indeed predictable. That said I found it to be an OK movie, tho I watch any old shit when I am stoned LOL

My missus quite enjoyed it, but then again she does not watch many movies.

I would say that the majority of people on this board will slate Secret Window, but as TaKYoNtheKoRRuPTeD sort of said, there is a large sector of people that loved it.

So I would say that Secret Window was good, in the respect of it's target audience, but my personal opinion was that it was baaaaaad :P

Total Jonny Depp Vehicle

But it's Stephen King - how many of his books ever made decent movies or dull mini-series, in fact how many of his books are decent?!?!? Even when I read the short story, 'Secret Window, Secret Garden' I figured it out early on. If it weren't for Johnny Depp it would be like Secret What??? Stephen King - the Babara Cartland of 'horror'

IMO there should be a film made of one of Richard Laymon's (RIP) books. http://www.ains.net.au/~gerlach/rlaymon2.htm

you can't put flying penises or any of the f*cked up shit from his books on film.

To make a good king it has to be very different from the book ;)

You guys were right, BUT: Everyone is always praising Depp and his great skills, but in this flick it was of course Turturro who gave the best preformance! Every time he was on screen was a delight. Loved the way he managed to look kind of old, battered and dim-witted and at the same time cunning, threatening, dangerous and powerfull. Even his accent was great, Much better than Depp's attempt. He's becoming one of my favorites as of lately. Pretty awesome carreer for a guy who started out as:

Raging Bull (1980) (uncredited) .... Man at table
and
Exterminator 2 (1984) .... Guy No. 1
