...to remember the name of the supporting movie that did the rounds when the Evil Dead did it's original release at the cinema???

I seem to recall it was about a gory murder in a house, some new people move into the house, and they keep having flashbacks to the murders, and I think the killer still lived there or something. Mmmmm....sounds a very familiar plot. There might have been a tennis court in the film aswell. It's been a long, long time (and many brain cells ago) but would love to find out wot this movie was.

Afraid I cant help ya matey. I am old enough to remember the film when it was new, evil dead that is, and can remember my mum hiding her pirate copy and me finding it. Can also remember waking up at 4 one morning and deciding to watch it, scared the shit outta me pretty good, was amazing really being scared, in a twisted kinda way I loved it.

I think that u are talking about "Within the Woods" the short low budget movie that Sam Raimi directed in 1978.

It's clearly NOT Within the Woods, and this film has never had a cinema release as it was a crappy short they used for drumming up money to make the feature film - Evil Dead!

B2BW - Are you sure that it wasn't a double Bill done only by your local cinema at the time, i.e are you sure that Nationwide Evil Dead was shown WITH this other film?

If it's mentioned in the evil dead trilogy extras I can view them tonight and give you the answer, but I have no knowledge of Evil dead being a double bill release :?

Film does sound interesting though :)

if you have time, do a search for the release date of evil dead, then claw through the movies.

@ paul - you're right - it definitely isn't Within the Woods. It may well have been a film that was shown only at my local cinema, however that's the only place I saw it - so unless there's anyone else out there who saw this film at the cinema I'm not gonna know. It definitely wasn't a "double bill" - more of a supporting feature - so probably not feature length - I think it was probably English.

@satan - i've tried that - been trawling through horror books, magazines and more recently the internet for nigh on 20 years now - and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Maybe I dreamed it!!!

Anyway, thanx guys 4 taking the time...

It's been a long time coming but I've finally found out that the supporting film I was talking about was in fact "Dreamhouse" written and directed by Michael Armstrong and is included as one of the three short films on "Screamtime" which is included on the Video Nasties 2 list. Everything comes to he who waits.........

Wow, nice resurrection of a thread. :zombiewalk: Did you figure out if this movie was just shown locally
with Evil Dead or was it a double bill?

It seems to have been included as a short feature with the original theatrical screening of The Evil Dead down south. By all accounts its a very good film. Now all I have to do is dig through many, many discs to try and find the film that I downloaded a few years ago and stored away "for future viewing" like so many before and since!

Holy fuck mate. Most of us have grown old since this thread appeared to die. Looks like it did a Star Trek revival special.

Nice one mate.
