This summer SVT (The Swedish public service broadcaster) will air several horror movies, and one of them will be Evil Dead. There is no censorship on SVT so there is no doubt it will be totally uncut.

This makes me think back to the eighties when me and some friends gathered in a basement and watched a blurry copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, well you get the idea. It was unthinkable that such a movie would ever be on television. For fucks sake, Sweden was famous among the sellers of movies for hard censorchip when it came to horror movies. I even read an article in Fangoria where they stated that they avoided selling to Sweden because they would cut the film to pieces.

As a matter of fact, when Evil Dead was first released in Sweden on VHS it was cut more than 10 minutes! Then all of a sudden in the nineties they stopped cutting up the movies (the last censorship cut made in a movie was in Casino in 1995) and Evil Dead came out totally uncut on VHS.

And now the bloody thing will be broadcasted on public television!
