Post subject:  Ju-on taxonomy

Hi, sorry for not introducing myself earlier, I've been browsing around Dead Donkey for a while now picking up some very nice ED2k links. Thank you all for posting so much of this material, it's unlikely I would ever have seen most of these films living in Australia.

The reason for this post is that I'm trying to track down BitTorrent or ED2k links to the complete Ju-On set.

That being,

Ju-On 1 [video/tv release, 2000]

Ju-On 2 [video/tv release, 2000 - 30 mins of new footage over the original, not a lot else to recommend]

Ju-On The Grudge [2003, theatre release, slight reworking of the deaths of the first two TV releases]
Ju-On 2 The Curse [????, theatre release, new story about a pregnant woman making a documentary on the house]

I'm pretty sure that so far I have Ju-On The Grudge 2003, Ju-On TV 2000 [as linked from Dead Donkey], and Ju-On 2 TV. But I can't seem to find any links of any kind to Ju-On 2 / The Curse. Everything I've tried so far has resulted in me getting yet another copy of Ju-On 2 for TV, and since over half of that is comprised of Ju-On 1 TV highlights, I'm not exactly getting value for bandwidth out of that.

The IMDB reviews suggest that Ju-On The Curse is even scarier than the previous installments, unusual for a sequel, so I'm very keen to get a hold of it.

I was wondering if the Ju-On fans out there have seen the trailer of the Sam Raimi remake yet - over here at

[low res]

and

[hi res]

Sam Raimi may be about the only director I can think of who could pull this off without making a mockery of the originals - the sound design and foley work in Evil Dead 1/2 was particularly good so I'm hoping he can carry some of that over to the Ju-On remake.

Thanks for any help people can provide.

Argh.

Well,

This seems to be Ju-On 2 theatre release.

I think a lot of my confusion is from The Grudge / The Curse being used interchangably when people talk about this movie. And that there's now something like 5 movies called "The Grudge" including the one coming from Raimi.

If anyone downloads the above ahead of me, please let me know. Thanks again.

Well you've got the list in the right order, although there is also a tv series that comes before the first film (not too important to see that though).

The links are probably on the board somewhere, but if you don't find them let me know. I have the first 3 backed up on cd and can rehash them easy enough if needed :D

Haven't seen the trailer for the remake but I heard Sarah Michelle Gellar was in it ( or maybe I dreamt that )....I'm not a fan of remakes, especially when the original is so recent, but I can't imagine her giving a good performance in this film :?

Ju-On: The Curse 2 (TV)
Ju-On: The Grudge (Theatrically released)
Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (Theatrically released)

ed2k links in a moment.

Subs for all of these should be up at kloofy's, except the Alucardshark version (they're hardburned, English of course  ). Sorry for the lack of specs, but they all are 29fps if I remember correctly.

And The Grudge 2 has its very own release thread. Do a search, it'll pop up. :)

Sorry about that Kyle - I had just gone browsing the front pages file list and the Asian Horror release thread and only saw Ju-On 1 there. Thanks very much for the link.

Sarah Michelle Geller is in the remake - looks to have been cast as Rika from what we can see in the trailer. My hope for the remake mainly comes from Raimis involvement rather than SMGs. There are a few scenes in the trailer that seem to hint at it being a shot-for-shot remake, though with Gellers sole title billing it'll probably be rewritten to give her character a bit more to do, unfortunately.

Well, not only is Raimi involved, but the director of all four of the originals returns, too. I thought it looked like a shot for shot remake as well... let's hope we're wrong.

Yeah, Takashi Shimizu is directing. Hey, even if the new one is a total remake, maybe its release will sparka good release for the originals.

Yeah, that would be something worthwhile at least :D
