I posted a short trailer of the new exorcist movie a while back. This is a much better extended one......looks great! Im very excited about it.

It's the prequel. I am looking forward to it. I'm not sure whats happening to the original.

yes, the prequel... but there are two versions.

One was completed and the studio went ape shit and remade it, however the first one they shot was complete and they plan to release it on DVD at the same time. There are infact two versions of the 'same' movie ;)

I think this is the first time this has ever happened :o Apparantly the original one they made is supposed to be decent and different, the other is supposed to be a copy / tie-in with other exorcist movies, which gets me worried :(

RENNY HARLIN FFS, why in the name of god is the director of such "gems" as cutthroat island, Speed 2, cliffhanger and the adventures of Ford fairlane being let loose on the Exorcist??!

Does anyone else remember the rumours about an 8 hour!!! version of the original Exorcist? :wacky: Doesn't exist of course.

There's a long interview with Paul Schrader in the SFX horror special and he does a very good job at justifying his film and says he is very proud of it.

This prequel remake thing though... urrgghhh it sounds like they went out and got a director who would be a cum bucket and nothing more.

The studio told Schrader to do an exorcist movie, its a prequel, and they wanted something good... not a direct copy of Exorcist, so no spinning heads or pea soup, so he said "fine, I wouldn't do it anyway". Then when he put it altogether to screen it, the first comments were "where are the spining heads".

Sounds like the studio bottled out and just wanted a safe clone of the other exorcists, which is a scarey thought... this might be Exorcist II all over again :-o
