News from Hollywood...

Raimi to direct EVIL DEAD 4... as well as produce EVIL DEAD remake!

Although the full interview will be coming to you in the coming days, SuperHeidi writes in with some (new) goods regarding Evil Dead 4 and the Evil Dead remake from the interview she had with Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert to promote their upcoming film Boogeyman. Read on for the skinny...

Quote:
Sam Raimi and Tapert, when asked if they were considering Sean Scott Williams for the part of Ash, looked at each other for a minute and then, together said, "Who is that?" Sam then said, "I don't think I've ever heard of him".

In regards to 'Evil Dead 4 Raimi says, "There will be an Evil Dead 4, and there will ALSO be an Evil Dead Remake. The remake will be produced by Ghost House pictures, (his company with Tapert) and it will star a new cast and a completely new director. The point of Ghost House is that we want to bring new directors (like Takashi Shimizu of "the Grudge" to Hollywood and give them a chnace to make a good horror film."

On WHAT inspired him to allow the remake, Raimi said, "I love the original Dawn of the Dead, and I also really enjoyed the new Dawn of the Dead. I mean, they are both really great horror films. I want to let somebody with a fresh vision bring The Evil Dead to a new generation and a new audience with a different vision..."

Contrary to what Raimi told Mr. D, the remake will be Evil Dead 1 and 2 together, but remade with a higher budget and a new cast and crew.

However, Raimi will be directing and producing Evil Dead 4, which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original".

Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved...

I am with you guys, you cannot have Evil Dead without Campbell.

Same as you cannot have Freddy vs Jason without Kane Hodder, oh wait, they already did that LOL

Evil Dead II was the best by far :)

But Army of Darkness has a huge cult following, each film in the series is brilliant in its own right imo, so whichever route they choose is good to me, as long as they don't do one of these shit modern horror approach films.

Army of Darkness II would be cool, so would Evil Dead II erm II

I think they should over serious the franchise, they did that in part one and I don't think part four will easily be able to pull that off.

As for the remake, I don't care, I'm skeptical they can pull anything off for that, but maybe they're better playing it serious?

Hopefully we won't get morons thinking Evil Dead II is a remake when this *real* remake, as said, remakes 1 and 2. Sounds like they plan on telling the story of both 'nights', the massacre of all the people, and then Evil Dead II style Ash alone in the cabin after everyone go killed off evil dead 1 style.

@spud :matrix: 1st is king, no contest :D

am hoping that #4 wont let us down but have serious doubts that it will live up to expectations tho.

but am seriously not too keen on the remake, just think should be left alone

Personally, I don't give a proverbial rat's ass for the remake. And as for the Part 4, whatever it's gonna be, it's gonna be OK, as long as it's gonna have Bruce Campbell. If not, then fokk it. And that's it.

Of course, since it's being teased for ages now (yeah, Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash), I'll have to see it to believe it.

ThEdEaDLiVe, quiet you arse!

Purple.Nightmare, Evil Dead II is the closest that franchise has come to perfect thus far. The first was great of course, but Evil Dead II was greater :)

I gotta say that if I am a fan of a film or series, I tend to appreciate sequels and remakes as another persons interpretation of the same basic story.

Hell Dawn of the Dead and the remake are both great, but for different reasons. Dawn o the Dead original, what can you say, it is just classic. The remake is not so good, but it fulfills one thing I missed in the original, action!!! On the other hand I would not change the original, it is classic because of what it is, if it was different it may never have become a classic.

Hey vermin, I gotta say the first 2 are the bollocks mate, I love em. Even the latest travesties are worth a watch. I like the Pinhead character too much to not watch, even if they are shitters.

If they made ED4 PG I would personally destroy America with a home made nuke, what the fuck is up with these ppl? Just look at what they did to AvP, they took a series of decent films aimed at adults and mutated it into some kiddy friendly pap. That film woulda rocked if it was more adult orientated.
