Resident Evil (Pre-2000) film

Ok, everybody knows of the 2 current resident evil flicks, but did anyone see the other one which was made sometime in the late 90's?
It's been a while since we rented it in the video store, and I can't remember much of the plot, but it did follow some of the basic story from the first game. I remember it was totally shitty though.
I think it had some guy with a shotgun on the cover, halfturning towards the camera, and looking terribly frightened by something.

Now, my guess is (since I can't find any info about it on imdb) that is was actually some unoficial ripoff flick, and probably released with a different title, only given back the 'Resident Evil' title by some video distributor.

I remember when the first oficial 'Resident Evil' flick finally did come out, I was totally baffled, because I thought I'd seen it already.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about here?

bio-zombie has nothing to do with RE, the franchise is called Bio-Hazard in Japan, and the biohazard movie has nothing to do with RE evil.

I've never heard of anything other than the 2 re films. The nearest thing to it is that advert George Romero did for Resident Evil 2's launch in japan.

yeah i remember that flick too, but- from my vague memory- wouldnt connect it to the RE game franchise in any way.
i think i tried to watch it 2 or even 3 times, but never managed to finish that junk. a quick check in my old vhs collection didnt come up with a name, sorry..... but i really have a strong feeling, we re thinking bout the same flick..........
theres a scene with a zombie attacking, good guy rams the barrel of his rifle into the mouth of the zombie, gun is jammed, zombie makes attempts to grab the guy still barrel-pierced, when the struggle seems to turn in favour of the zombie, the rifle finally goes off- splash!!!
best scene i remember, but amateurishly executed by the makers.

bio-zombie (along with bio cops) is an HK production from ~2000 with HK big names Wilson Yip & Jordan Chan.
has a small cult following, isnt anything particularly special or frightening or a wildly action packed frantic ride tho; more in the typical hk tradition of quirky productions, throwing pieces/motives of other genres into the mix of classic (stereotype) hk ghost/spook filmmaking.

spudthedestroyer, there definatly was another one, but as I say, my guess is that is was originally filmed under a different title, and only given the 'Residen Evil' title by some video distrobutor or something.

Knokk TuRnoo, I don't remember anything else about it, so I can't say if we're talking about the same film.

I'm pretty sure it was american (english language at least), so no, it wasn't Bio-Zombie. hehe, I love Bio-Zombie. =)

That scene sounds familliar, but like Spud I didn't know they made an earlier film.

Afraid I have to 100% copy Mr Flibble here. It "sounds" really familiar, but I can't quite place it.

I will see what I can do 2moro, I would try now, but it aint gonna happen due to my "herbal" medicines kicking in. I would probably go off on some crazy tangent and end up convincing myself we were talking about Bambi LOL

That shotgun in the face thing kind of reminds me of Video Dead. I don't think that that exact scene is in it, but stuff in that vein.

Seriously tho, this has perplexed me cos another horror freak I know can vaguely remember that scene too, but like us cannot place it.

Just for the record I'm almost 100% sure there's no bio-hazard/resident evil movie, if there is a movie that's kind of like it, its a shit ripoff that has nothing to do with it.

There was a japanese comic and the romero advert, that's about as close as it got... unless you mean the actual FMV in the game itself. That was a lot like Resident Evil (because it was the game itself) :lol:

I'm curious to see this cheap knockoff now, but I won't be surprised to see some crossed wires.

edit: oh and that episode of spaced with resident evil in it :lol:

Well since I released the Video Dead I can assurre you that it has nothing to do with resident evil.....I don't even know if the game was even out when that movie was released.

Anyways DXA, I am pretty sure Video Dead was out way before RE. TBH it has got to pre-date RE the game by atleast 7 or 8 years, if not more.

I would be suprised if this was it. This was crap, of course, and had no zombies in it at all.
