Joe Dante directs this story of the glamour, the glitter, the magical allure of Hollywood... and not a speck of it rubs off on Miracle Pictures, where "If it's a good picture, it's a Miracle." This is a hilarious tribute to the unsung heroes who grind out the B movies massacred by critics, but nursed fondly in the hearts of film fans everywhere.

better than HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY

this movie is great. i loved it. it's about a B movie being made, and a girl in a co-starring role finding that her friends and enemies are getting killed all around her. this movie is pure entertainment. the acting is bad, the dialouge worse, and you just couldn't ask for better. the girls are hot, the men are not. the sets are cheap and I'm telling you, this movie was far better than HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY, the picture that stole the best oscar away from CITIZEN KANE. this movie was robbed of an oscar too; many of them. I believe it was ROCKY that won the title prize that year, starring former Paul Bartel alumni Sly Stallone. Joe Dante directs, Bartel, as usual, has a co-starring role. this fantastic gem has a great pace and is never boring. and there's a musical scene in the middle that might just be the greatest moment in film/musical history. the star is a bad actress but you just have to feel for her. her boyfriend, or rather, the guy playing her boyfriend, is a good actor: he played Hendricks in JAWS. and, well, you just can't get any better than HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD. take my word for it, HB is the place to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From The Psychotronic Encyclopedia:

"It's a crazed, fast-paced, paste-up job about filming "Machete Maidens of Maratau" with a masked killer on the set. Scenes from "The Terror" and "Battle Beyond the Sun" are used along with appearances by Robby the Robot, Dick Miller, Forrest J. Ackerman, director Paul Bartel as director Von Leppe, Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, and a final confrontation on top of the Hollywood Sign. This ultimate in-joke feature led to Arkush direct "Rock 'n' Roll High School" and Dante directing "Piranha" and "The Howling". "

Grab it!

Watched it recently, there is something horror going on, but it is more about making B-movies, so it's fine in here.
