Depicting reality has never been more realisticly unreal! You don't have to worry about no singing candles, ugly mermaids or sickening moralizing in this one. Drugs, sex, violence, murder & rape are just some of the happy scenes portrayed in such extremeties it comes of as natural. Truley a different viewing experience, that you'll either love for it's uniqeness or hate for it's neglection of common animation and storytelling techniques.

I saw this on Bravo (when it was a good channel), it's pretty good. Worth a click. 8)

Yeah, I really liked it as well. Can't exactly put my finger on why, but it gave me a good feeling, without being a feel-good film. He just really captured the atmosphere.

and it's so nice to watch an animated film that doesn't underestimate it's audience!

You're welcome Poly, but I'm sorry to say you're barred from this one untill you say what you thought of Black Rainbow. (j/k of course)
And what about S.F.W? Would think that was your kind of film as well....

Sorry, I had no time to comment on Black Rainbow. I liked the movie a lot. For me it's the kind of stuff I can watch solely for the atmosphere, forgetting about the plot - which is not so intricate here, except for the dubious ending. There's not much action, but I think this adds to building up the suspense. Although I'm not a fan o Arquette, I have to admit her acting is great. Only the commentary is a bit disappointing: the guy mostly says what is already obvious, making lots of really long pauses, waiting for the scene to end or something - I've seen other directors do it better, using those moments to tell some anecdote or elaborate more on the previous scene etc.
