Some Kind of Monster is a music documentary about Metallica's making of their album St. Anger and the difficulties they had to go through in the process. The directors (Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky) shot over 1200 hours and followed the band around night and day for over a year to create this documentary.

Not my rip and I don't have the file ATM, it is confirmed however.

Mama always said, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anthing at all." but...

Am I the only one who has been revolted by these guys since the early 90's? Most people I talk to say that that is when they started liking them. :?

If I'm not mistaken, by some strange coincidence this is the time they started appearing in Bravo Girl and other teen magazines.

I hate what Metallica represents nowadays. Since the "black album" they've been going down fast. Some people think I'm a freak when I say I also think "SM" was one of the worst attempts I've ever heard of fusing metal with classical music.

Yeah, metal isn't what it used to be...

Well Metallica - Metallica (Black) was good, and S&M being a compilation album was good (even if any band could really do that, it still sounds good... perhaps that's mainly down to the starting track of "The Ecstacy of Gold", of course from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly soundtrack :) ), all their other albums since black haven't really got any air time round here.

Regardless, this documentry is apparantly supposed to be superb, this is coming from everyone, even critics that don't even like them. Supposed to be just a good documentry. Not seen it myself, but the reputation its gotten outside the metallica circle clearly indicates there's at least something really special about this documentry.

Downloading and hope its not dissapointing :)

(IMO) Metallica died when Cliff Burton (R.I.P.) died...
Compare the intensity and sound of a song like "Fight Fire With Fire" with their new shit...nuff said!

Well, if its not just a glorified promotional tape, or some "inside look" for fans, I might be interested.

Has anybody watched it, and can provide some feedback?

I have.
Metallica indeed turned into a monster ($$$). I respect them for what they've done for the (rock/metal)music! But if you need a guide(therapy) to sort out your (personal)problems with the band...wtf?! That's NOT rock 'n roll in my book!
I'm sorry if I've offended any "die-hard" Metallica fans...(not really  )

No life till leather...

Let's make this perfectly clear.....these guys rode Burton's corpse all the way to the top....I won't even consider listening to anything past Master of Puppets..and even then that is kicking a dead dog. With these big bands they could fart on an album and it would sell just on name alone...nothing great has come from them in decades....may they rot in the cesspool of mediocraty that they have well established. :beerchug:

yeah why dont we all say it ... r.i.p. metallica 1986.... burton was the man that did give the metallica the edge it misses today thats for sure. and we all know that lars is the business man, the owner of the band. that crave for more money and uses the whips on the rest of the band members to keep the dead metallica corps going on with its agony. as someone mention earlyer up here in a post..

*But if you need a guide(therapy) to sort out your (personal)problems with the band...wtf?! That's NOT rock 'n roll in my book! *

and you can add this... making an soape alike documentary of the personal problems, to show on cinemas just says it all.... its just like ozzy selling his pvt life to mtv... its the end nothing good will come of it.... but anyway its up to lars when he decide when metallica is dead.

i bet he will keep the metallica corps alive acouple of years and then end it with alot of greatest hits crap albums...

I couldn't agree more with some of the comments here regarding Metallica. I've got RtL and MoP on vinyl still and nothing even come close to the intensity on those 2 albums. Still I've heard good reports and reviews about the documentary though.

As always.

Give all credit to Burton, but I think some of that needs to go to Mustaine, a lot of his material was used over those early albums imo, in the band or not ;) Deserved a lot more than being booted from the band... if he was still around in metallica, they'd at least wouldn't have sold out to nu metal :)
