Bassline, i know nothing about this all. Yes, i was on the fansite page and while it holds alot of info i was somehow....lazy to go through the summary for those episodes. I would ask you to tell me with your own words what is so special about this all, please. Is it filled with dark british humor which we all like so very much? Is that more kind of the first modern "horror series" ever made? Is it just a collectors item because it is relatively old? I am even more confused since I visited the fan site. I am perhaps too judgemental (and I have not seen even the first episode) but all what I saw so far looks to be very boring. no splatter, no bad actors, story simmilar to Romero's Crazies, super long series, what the hell they have to talk all the day long when the virus is killing them all such quick, LOL? So, please, I need a competent review from fan to movie freak. Yep, I am still downloading the first thing, and if you can manage to convice me for the rest, I would in return sign in for your Zombie army. ]8~)

Well if you are too lazy to read something thats as plain as day on the fansite why should i go in depth about something when it's written far superior to what i can write over there :P

errr does it look like a humourous program? :wacky:

yup a bit judgemental when you haven't even bothered to read the fansite
boring?.....it's far from boring as many have downloaded this and would disagree :D
no splatter?....well the series relies mainly on DRAMA and STORYLINES not splatter to keep people interested things, which are few and far between in most productions these days
no bad actors?....there's ALWAYS bad actors in every production ever made so.....
story simmilar to Romero's Crazies?....yeah kinda and many other movies that have chose to use a sole survivor or a group of survivors for the premise of there story :) eg 28days later/omega man/the quiet earth etc etc etc

i'm no writer and don't think i could write anything accomplished enough to persuade anyone to watch this, all i can say is "watch it" :P if you are not hooked by the end of episode 1 then it's not for you i guess :o
and as for the zombie army....i only joined up so i could use there nice sigs

DRAMA and STORYLINES, that's cool. Hope they have also some naked chicks and/or aliens & spaceships inside ;) Just joking. Naagh, I was on the fansite, but I felt immediately discouraged to read on when I saw almost the complete script with tons of pictures. I planned to watch that episode, not to read every dialog and hang from scene to scene ;) So, I expect this is then perhaps one of those "you'll like it, or not" things.

Hi Bassline,
I think I should try it again with "Survivers". The first episode (and that was so far the only one I saw) did not touched me in any special way. I think mainly because it appears to me to be way too british...kind of a very british inside thing, that all. However, I liked the 70?s style very much...and actors. Perhaps that entire thing can only unfold when one watch more then just one episode? I would like to have a new try, in case you can promise me that when I click on...say 5-10 episodes....they will not stuck around 99% each. Never happened with any of your files so far, but I just ask in advance (kind of coservative question, I know, LOL). Again, thanks alot for your ?Last Man? release, I debt you something alone for that movie.

P.S. Don't wonder about the signature, did not know what else to write...for the moment

I'm just finishing dl'ing the last three episodes of series 3 and will have all three seasons in my shares for the next few months, for those that want this excellent series.

This is simply a great series; a real classic. With potential global epidemics like SARS and bird flu going around these days I think the premise of this series is as relevant now as it ever was. It's the classic story of what the few surviving members of an entire species (man) that's been suddenly and almost totally obliterated by a catastrophic epidemic might do to try to survive the total collapse of their former world. It's not a horror film in the classic sense, but there is definitely a persistant edgyness to the entire story as it unfolds, because the stakes for both the survivors and for the human race as a whole are so high. I really enjoyed the realistically pragmatic tone that's the central theme of the series.

Give it a try. It's pretty good. It will be available in my shares (and Bassline's, of course, and others) for quite a while I think; you won't get left hanging one episode short of the end.

Gotta say at this point,I am hooked :beerchug:
I don't really see the comedy aspect of it though as stormjunkie said..Seems pretty damned serious to me...does the series change after season 1 or does it pretty much remain the same?I want your opinion not a websites by the way, that is why I am asking.I have noticed soem the actors from other Britt shows like the guy in the second episode who played Tiberius in I Claudius. The main famale part I know I have seen her somewhere too but can't place it.Same with the Helicopter pilot.
By the way, just watched threads again today..that movie has some of most hideous actors known to mankind. Some things struck me as rather blatant oversights..Why would you stick the central government underground in a city that you know is going to get nuked?Seems kind of obvious you would want to get it as far underground and as far away from populated and military targets as you possibly could
At any rate thanks again for this great series and I am looking forward to completing it.

I watched the series in the original transmissions in the early 70s and it had a strong impact then as it does now if you accept the premis.
It was made all the more enjoyable by the differing views of the two main characters who both think " they know best " ..GREG and CHARLES...you will enjoy the series and there is a conclusion of sorts.

There is still talk of a follow on series even though Terry Nation ( the writer ) died a while ago

p.s.
Im afraid the point you made about the council workers stationed near the city center is correct (at least were i live ) as the fall out shelter got filled in about 4 years ago and i was surprised then when i read about it in the paper hehehe...typically British im afraid :)

I've marked all and everything from
the entire season 1 (DVD). For now
only 4 files are complete, rest is
still in DL progress. Alot of the
files are completely red or bear many
red chunks inside...but it's just a
matter of time, I guess. This all
seem anyway to turn into some 4-5
month project. More about in a few
weeks..

I do not fear nukes, I am British and will nut em if they even come close to me. Fallout shelters are for wimps.

well so far i've only watched series 2 and have yet to watch series 3...but series 2 is quite different fom series 1....obviously they now have survived the virus and now have to rebuild a future for themselves so most of the story revolves around there self suffiency with making/growing things for there future, still highly enjoyable to watch IMO :D

as for Greg (heli pilot) you may remember him from these classic movies (zombie flesh eaters/zombie holocaust and Contamination) Survivors was BIG in Italy so i'm guessing they used him in these movies to try and increase interest  and in future episodes there are more actors/actresses you will know if you know much British TV ...i spotted a guy from Coronation Street (Roy Cropper),Peter Duncan who was an old Blue Peter (kids show) presenter,Linda Robson (birds of a feather) and possibly more, thats all i can rememeber off the top of my head

glad you are enjoying it :beerchug:
