This movie is in fact a magical bag full of symbolic folklore about werewolves, or, rather, their sexual connotation. Grandmother Angela Lansbury tells her granddaughter Sarah Patterson strange, disturbing tales about innocent maidens falling in love with handsome, heavily eyebrowed strangers with a smouldering look in their eyes; about sudden disappearances of spouses when the moon is round & the wolves are howling in the woods; about babies found inside stork eggs, in a stork nest high up a tree; etc., etc. Of course the story of Little Red Ridinghood is also present, with a very handsome he-wolf!(And of course this he-wolf consumes Grandmother, but 'consumes' Little Red Ridinghood). All the stories are somehow reducable to loss of innocence, and fear of/hunger for (a newly acquired sense of) sexuality; their Freudian character is mirrored in their dreamlike shapes. This movie is not really a horror movie; it's more a multiple tale about growing up into adolescence.

Plot

Company of Wolves is Little Red Riding Hood for the Alien generation. Sheltered
13-year-old Sarah Patterson, living on the edge of a foreboding woods, is
visited by her grandmother Angela Lansbury. The old lady delights in telling
Sarah the most horrific stories, usually involving what happens to little girls
if they trust wolves--the actual, rather than symbolic kind. Later on, Sarah
sets out through the woods to visit her grandmother. She makes the acquaintance
of a seductive young huntsman (Micha Bergese), who turns out to be.....well,
what big teeth he's got. The ads for Company of Wolves, showing a wolf
springing from the open mouth of poor little Sarah Patterson, were warning
enough for the faint of heart. Actually, the horror is secondary to the
remarkable Grimms-Fairy-Tale ambience which the film successfully sustains
from beginning to end. And, in keeping with the original unexpurgated versions
of most fairy tales, the sexual subtext is never far from the surface.

Director Neil Jordan would further develop some of the subliminal themes in
Company of Wolves in his 1994 production Interview with the Vampire.

erm, that IS the nzb silly (look up at the location bar ;) ), you were looking at the contents of the file (nzb is just xml).
Right click anywhere on it and "save page as", and there you go. If you'd have associated nzbs with your newgroups client then it would automatically launch, you obviously haven't.
Personally i like to save the files to a folder with a name so they are created in a directory of my choosing.

I dunno, you newbie people....

hehe, you n00bs and your "if it doesn't work a particular way i'm used to" ways... :googley: next you'll be asking why your mules not downloading when you've been connected for 1min and your firewalled.

On an actual serious note, that isn't me taking the piss out of something, if you are wondering what is going on:

The likely reason is that either the browser isn't sending a request properally on redirect, grabit is a retard*, or apache on that server isn't serving it as anything but xml. Its the same when you have php files, or host torrents but don't add the mime types, it displays the contents of the files unless the browser is setup to download. Standard http stuff :)

If you hit stop during the redirect, and then click the link, does it work properally then? If so your browser isn't handling redirects to nzbs, if it displays the text then its likely apache doesn't have the mime type entry for nzbs and treated it (correctly) as xml.

Its hardly any more of a palaver though if you think about it, no more than downloading and extracting from a zip would have been. Or having to go and hit inverse, save and then rename the file (if you were me). Each has the same number of logical steps. This one is actually not bad thinking about it, because if your like me and likes tv downloaded to folder named tv, then i have to rename them and automatic execution f*cks that up (can't right click save on a redirector link either).

As for the page it displayed, nzbs are basic xml that describe nothing but the headers for information. Their design is to replace the headers so you don't have to subscribe to newsgroups. XML is the best way of describing such meta data since its clear, universally understandable and very neat.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=define ... 8&oe=utf-8

That's incase you cared, which is about 50-50 :wacky:

ps. palaver ?

I don't assign nzbs to a program (I don't think SABnzbd does that - if it does I doubt I'd use it anyway).

Thanks for the detailed explanation spud, still I'm none the wiser though. I normally just download a file, an nzb file and dump it into SAB. Much like a torrent - though with torrents they are assigned to Azureus.

P.S. I'm one of the 50 that doesn't care btw :P
