------------------------ Md5 & Sha explanations & suggested programs ------------------------

They are improvements on the old, familiar sfv files.

While SFV files are great for pictures and other small files, they not reliable for large ones.

Md5's can verify large files with almost total certainty. Sha are even better.

Given the popularity of trading, it is desirable that people know their copy is good.

At least one popular DVD Burning program changes IFOs (and BUPs), that it doesn't like,
without notice, or any change in the time/date stamp. Also, disc errors can happen. If a
disc develops problems, a file copied from it may be corrupted.

How to use:

Copy the disc to a folder on the hard drive. Copy the md5 or sha to the root of that folder.

Programs include:

MkwAct (md5 only).
Fast. Includes an option for context-menu integration. Predates Sha.

JSummer (md5 and Sha).
Java and compiled versions. Cross-platform. GUI and CLI/batch operation.
