yeah, annoying isn't it... and i really do think the only reason they did that was for the panscan people which makes it more annoying
I was gonna take a picture from my dvd but dvds are so awkward, remembered I had the HDTV version (downsampled the picture for viewing convience) on my hdd so here's the screen for people that didn't realise this annoying buster action:
