Old grainy print, we split based on rip and film print/source quality. Usually why this section is a lot more valuable resource than elsewhere :)

Since we operate in a genre of rarity, low budgets and underground material its pretty senseless to operate it where the lower quality section is just a dumping ground for nukes like most other sites do. There's a higher volume of lower quality sources, be they dvd, vhs, laser disc, etc. You'll find that the sections are browsed in discriminantly. We've had discussions about how to handle a split for ages and atm its the best we've come up with.

Its the nukes that are out of place in the section if anything, unfortunately there's nothing better to do with them and making a section for them seems too much :(

Do you think it should be in higher quality? Its generally left up to the person posting when the rip is flawless, but we'd prefer if they were genuinely honest about the source quality. Some of the posters will post everything in higher quality, others critque any mastering mistakes and post in lower. Its a bit flexible in that way since source quality is something that's hard to define.

This & Gojira (1954) came in the same DVD box, and Gojira was the main selling point of the DVD set. The DVD cover advertised just Gojira, and the inclusion of this was just left as a fine print.

If you compare screenshots taken from both the movies at the same frame, you can see that when it came to remastering, the remake movie was dealt a bad hand (remake reused a lot of footage from the original movie).

But, even then, I wouldn't call this print that horrifically bad to call it LQ. The source wasn't very good and surprisingly the interlaced portions were BFF interlaced (the first movie on DVD that I have seen as BFF). I did clean up the source and better it a bit.

I am not familiar with the nature of the rips which are being posted in the LQ section here, but if rips like these should be here, then so be it. No worries.
