...but seriously folk, the colors seem much more vibrant in the new rip.

...although, from what i gather the International versions should be SHORTER, as they lose some of the Russian jokes that would make no sense to non-Russians...

The R1 DVD just came out and sadly does not contain the cool animated subtitles that Night Watch had. Sad thing too, because this movie was much more cohearent than Night Watch.

@anti, night watch is only a tad incoherant because 20th Century Fox butchered it. A significant portion of the movie was removed from non-domestic rips; the so called International Cut.

I hear the russain version explains the appearance of characters and what not and holds together better.

subs were done just for the first just for cinemas in europe, and since this appears to be more like a STV here its a shame they didn't bother giving the sequel similar treatement; then again, didn't the US R1 of Night Watch not have the theatrical subs either?

All in all i think this comes down to Fox being a shitty distributer :(

does that new rip have decent english subs? i remember the first time i watched Night Watch, the subs were so poorly translated that most of the plot was incoherent. it wasn't until i watched the US r1 dvd release under a friend's insistence and finall understood that it was a poor translation that had made the story seem so convolluted.

also, the US dvd does some really cool animated stuff with the subtitles. it seems like it would just come off cheesy, but it just lends a cool comic bookness.

ah. i didn't notice that second page of comments.

i'd def be interested in seeing a longer cut of Night Watch. the US cut def seemed a little unintentionally disjointed at times.
