Alright! First of all, I personally don't like x264, cause it's not 'well spread' right now. I mean, on player, and stand alone player/device. x264 codec don't work in most of the old DVD Player, PS3 have hard time to play them, they lag in my many Media Player on PC (VLC read them fine, they already have the codec within the player, but WMP doesn't, you need to install a codec pack, and still, from time to time, video frame freeze and/or lag). So until it's more 'spread' and 'by default', I'll keep with standard .avi with XviD (But I have to admit, .mkv with x264 are very good quality, and it's perfect, but still need more compatibility with player). Second, when I said that I cropped the picture, i'm just removing the black bar fron the top and bottom of the picture. If we don't do that, it won't be fullscreen, and people don't like having black bar in a .avi, of course! That's what I meant. Should I choose the 'Smart Crop All' feature, and not 'Pixel' ? Maybe that was the problem... let me know! Since I don't have a XboX, thank for letting me know that the file doesn't play well on it. If you need a re-seed on the Torrent for the full DVD, let me know, I could try to re-seed it, cause i've actually removed it from my HDD, to make some place back then, but since it's only .vob, should be no problem to just re-rip them and re-share. Let me know! And thanks again for the feedback on the rip, i'll check on my side too what did go wrong and try something else next time.

Yes, that's right, h264 in a mkv isn't yet that supported as avi. When you buy new hardware, no problem, you can count it in. x264 results in a standard AVC/AVCHD/h264/mpeg4 pt10 file. So it is the 'new' standard, also used in all digital cams, bluray, etc... (same codec). It won't take long any more, I use it for at least 3 years now without problems (yes, no PS3, no players which depend on installed codecs, no wish to play them on a dvd,...)
I think mediaplayers on pc which don't play mkv with x264 correct are non-serious players on the market however (such as WMP). The players should be blamed not the format.
I don't think there was a problem with your cropping. Looks very fine. It's just rescaling that lowers quality a lot (something apart from cropping or compression, as even uncompressed formats suffer from rescaling quantization, rescaling is 'the normal way' of doing, to me it is the old way of doing: When playing back on older computers, using non-square pixels would mean extra cpu while playing, but today that doesn't matter no more. Non-square pixels 'might' also not be displayed correct by crappy players (very crappy and/or old, as non-square pixels are the most normal thing in digital video) Such rescaling artifacts started to annoy me when I started using HD1080-screens for watching movies, on classic CRT-TV's, such things never bothered too much.
I'd prefer manual pixel cropping above any 'smart' or 'automatic' cropping system.
btw, it didn't play wel on XBMC, but I used XBMC on a PC (win7), not a xbox. I don't have any consoles at home, just a long hdmi cable to the television. But probably XBMC on xbxox will have the same trouble. I really don't know how the error came into your file. It was 3kb 'strange' data in your AC3, a read error from the dvd?
Maybe if you do the exact same again, the problem isn't there...
Thanks, if I need a reshare, I'll let you know (need to clean up some space before I can actually start the torrent)

As Aszazin pointed out, the problem seems to be in the AC-3 stream and not the XviD video stream. So maybe you should reencode the audio and mux it again. @XviD configuration: - I personally would use a custom matrix and not H.263.
- I am not sure what "Use 4MV" means. I have no such option in my XviD configuration dialog. Google says 4MV = Inter4V macro block mode (Inter
with 4 motion vectors and overlapped block motion compensation for luminance). Should be turned off for shitty (?) stand-alone players.

I got those 'new' setting with my XviD codec when i've updated my XviD codec to the latest version with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. Since then, those options appearred. OLD: NEW: I will give it a try next time for 4MV, I will uncheck the box and let's see. Will also change H.263 for Matrix.
