The DVD rip seems to have bad AR...

10% error probably

Most likely ~2.35:1 cinematic since that's common, but ARs are never exact.

But that's just a guess, the old one isn't 2.35 either.
2.206.1

On looks ones slightly squashed (VHS) and ones slightly stretched (DVD). Video quality of the VHS is very bad.

Hey,at least it's available...this movie is beyond bizarre..adn considering the time it was made and with Japans main contribution to the scene beeign Godzilla....shit...this is a classic.might be a bit stretched but you know..they got stuff that can fix that now

hi y'all, the dvd owner here

subs are a real bitch to synch, but i got my comparse and sub expert ladri on the case, they should be up beginning of next week

concerning AR, i did a first rip using the normal gordian technique technique and ended up with a really fucked up AR, so i checked the VOB, and tried to approach it's AR as closely as possible, that is why i included vob snapshot

you guys reckon the dvd has bad AR ?

i dunno, I think one of them has a bad AR, since the vhs has a little fatty in it  To be honest I think they are both a bit out, but if you look at the shrooms in the vhs rip, they seem a bit stumpy ( drumroll  )

I loved this flick. Wish there hadn't been a fucking spoiler in the fucking aka title thought. I bet you'd have a totally different viewing experience if it was just called Matango.

I want to go shrooming now.

PS: The editing was a little "hard".

this reminds me you guys probably never got the extras i posted a couple of days later :

arkhane wrote:
Extras:
Matango.(Attack.of.the.Mushroom.People).1963.DVDRip.XviD-RKN.Extras.rar

extras contain full cover + hi-res leaflet scans, trailer, director's interview, and other features
no subs for these extras, but great photos from the set, etc...

Image

long story for this one:
i first extracted english subs from the vhsrip i got from crazymazeys (thx to a great software: avisubdetector)
then i translated them to french and repacked the vhsrip, cropping the black bars and subtitles
a few months later, when i had some money, i got the jap dvd which only had jap subs, and my good friend ladri1 painstakingly resynched the subs by hand, line by line
so this is truly a labor of love, hope you enjoy it as much as i do everytime i see it !

ship wreck, desert island, hallucinatory drugs, zombie mushroom mutants, directed by the guy who did the early godzilla movies : what more could you ask for ?

i'm currently trying to author a dvd of this one from the jap dvd
i also got the new english r1 dvd, but the menus are ugly and it doesn't include all extras
plus i wan't to include french subs also
