I have seen the movie at the theatre, and despite several really cool sequences, I did not like the story. I'm not going to spoil, I'll just say that all the silent-hillers affair was irritating and forced. No atmosphear at all, just some cool moments.

I have to admit, the game is actually better story wise and atmosphere because your in the driving seat and this film contributes nothing of its own accord. All of the awesome bits are directly lifted from the concept art of the game, which is also why this is probably the best game -> film translation, but really, the concept art is what makes this movie.

I think the movies contributions to the franchise are nothing of merrit, but the games contributions make the film enjoyable inspite of the movie. That's probably the best way to put it. Or in other words, its not as big of a f*ck up as Resident Evil was.

i've seen it today and actually found it quite entertaining :)
but i have to say that i've only played silent hill 2 for a few minutes, so i can't really compare the story to the game.

well everything of merit from this movie is EXACTLY the same as the game. I'm not a fan of the game, but the art work... jesus, its soooooo good, I believe it won awards and boy did it deserve them

So i stick by my earlier summary, the movie is good inspite of itself, but its the art deparment for the game that made this movie/game brilliant, not the script, acting or crew.

Look at the art screens I linked to, right... were they not the best bits of the movie? Exactly and they are stright from the game.

It wasn't faithful enough, its easily the best game to movie transition and its really enjoyable, but they tried this hollywood SHIT and it didn't work. STICK TO THE GAME. The game has more.

I recommend this movie, but at the same time i recommend recognition for the art department behind the game. They made this movie.

So is Arcon's better from Unseen's ? :? Confused here :wacky:

Already getting Unseen's, but if Arcons's better (and I don't care about standalone friendliness since I don't have one) I'll gladly cancel and re-click..

:drunk:

Arcons is better, but it has QPEL which shitty standalones can't handle. If you've got a good standalone, an xbox or a pc, then Arcon's is the one to choose.
I put the unseen rip in the first post. (and removed the tags from germaniacs post ;) )

Note: Screenshots for unseens (first and last) are compressed ;)

Yeah nice to see a bit of blood, I have to wonder if its filmed with restraint though. What do you think to the barbed wire victim in the school bathroom, was the cut aways to save censorship or for effect? I'm thinking the former.

Barbedwire death aplenty in the game btw. Mr Hellish triangle head is too, but his skin ripping skills seem to have improved for the big screen

Geee....I wonder who that could have been
I was just pointing out about the QPel...makes no difference to me since I watch half my stuff through comp anyway but I know a lot of people have got those low grade standalones, including myself, so was just giving a heads up on it :) As far as I go I am just sticking to my Diamond release..not gonna down it twice

Actually i didn't take those screens, they were from another thread. So I'm a filthy urchin too. No credit for me on this, Arcon and Unseen for their excellent rips ;)

Its just about getting the releases to spread, as long as people keep tags intact releasers are (generally) happy about them being spread. Well at least i have no problem getting em reposted on other sites, as long as they don't remove the tags like seems to happen :(
