CORRECT george this is indeed uncut and is the dutch E.C. version as i have this dvd myself and just checked its runtime which is 88 mins long i seeded this well over a year ago but this one is not my rip but guys it is FULLY UNCUT.

Really? Sorry to sound like a jerk then.... My VHS version runs 92 minutes. Allwell... its probably just bad dialogue anyway.

your from the states grind, your vhs run at 30fps, dutch is pal so its 25fps.

That means that 88mins ~=~ 92mins. There's normally about 5mins in it.
Actually making a media cataloguer program that will sort this out, records the number of frames, and not runtime. That's the best way of doing it

But you need to divide your runtime by 29.976, then times it by 25.

Ahhh, I always forget that! Im an audio guy, so different framerates affecting running time confuse me to hell. In an audio situation that type of formula would affect the pitch... maybe....
By that equation, if transferred to PAL, my version is 76 minutes? Confused I am... So European seconds are shorter than American seconds?
Most rips I've made are 23.whatever fps, so does that affect the running time of the original vhs source i would have taken it from?

No, you're right, by speeding up the film (23.976 NTSC frames per second to 25 PAL frames per second) the audio pitch is (VERY SLIGHTLY) changed, Because it's sped up it's also 4% shorter than the US DVD release.

Cinema is not affected as it runs @ 24 FPS everywhere

Yes if it's ripped from an NTSC source but this rip is verified as the Dutch EC Entertainment release ie PAL. I have this DVD and can verify it is definitely the uncut version, very nasty

So if I capped my NTSC VHS tape to a digital PAL format, it would affect the running time? Or would it just keep the running time and change the framerate?

My DVD is the original Dutch EC Entertainment non-anamorphic release with the English back cover, the rip is definitely from the EC Entertainment DVD, probably this disc due to its age. This version of the film is really nasty, certainly doesn't look uncut to me. The back cover says Uncut version, although this doesn't mean a lot

The running time of the DVD is 87:47 (it starts playing trailers at this point) of which the first 5 seconds is the EC logo, so call it 87:42. However DGIndex shows it to be NTSC with a frame rate of 29.970 fps

The pre-cert has a running time of 87:48, looking good, but I don't like the fact that it's showing as NTSC with that time, the original issue of Mountain of the Cannibal God on EC is also NTSC BTW.

I still reckon it's uncut though, it's not like EC Entertainment to release cut DVD's.

Subs in what language? The film is in English.

I have recently done Eaten Alive also from EC Entertainment which also showed up as NTSC and FR 29.970. This led to the rip being 3 min shorter than the IMDB runtime. I may/may not have done something wrong in the ripping but its still being debated. But my dvd came frome europe and says fully uncut. Maybe all EC DVD's are NTSC ?
BTW as Spud will point out DVDCompare will only tell you if there have been cuts from the theatrical to dvd release. If the movie was cut before it went to the theatre then DVDCompare will say "no cuts"

The rip on the prev page runs at 25fps so surely its from the vipco 88min release or wouldn't it run at 23 or 29fps ?

My mate foolishly bought the Vipco DVD from a shop across the road from where they had the Dutch DVD on sale , I'll have to ask him about it as I don't intend sitting through this butchered version. The Dutch disc has a very nasty scene where David Hess carves up a girl with a cut throat razor. Rest assured if that scene is present then it's uncut.

As some of you may know I have been working on a list of cuts suffered by the official video nasties so I borrowed the Vipco DVD and drew a comparison. The Vipco DVD is PAL but what is really strange is that the rip, with the EC Entertainment logo intact, is PAL but the DVD itself is NTSC. These cuts work out about 22 seconds less than the BBFC claim to have cut. However I compared the running time of the rip and the Vipco DVD at the point Alex gets out of the car to talk to the girl, prior to the first cut, and it had already lost 4 seconds. I think there has been some conversion between NTSC and PAL going on here, which would account for the difference in running time.
