http://www.acfmovies.com

first place some (most likely fan-) subs will pop up is gonna be kloofys tho, dont expect the acf crowd get the job done.
engl. subs for jap flix are often a problem :?

maybe theres a chance for official subs when GFW gets another region/country dvd rls.

EDIT: ditto  :eatthis:

I`ve found some subs for Godzilla Final Wars posted at shareheaven.
I haven`t checked them to see if they`re in English, but they look legit. I have uploaded them for you.

Download links:
Http://www.qfile.de/dl/199850/godzilla. ... s.rar.html

or, if you like this better, I`ve added an ed2k :

ed2k: godzilla.final.wars-vito-subs.rar  [1.98 Mb] [Stats]

Find me one in a format, which I can copy/paste in a kanji lookup program and I might be able to translate them. But with idx/sub I cannot do anything.

Hello wargand,

I haven`t seen any text based subs for it, but I see what you mean.
I think you`re right. Perhaps we may have to do this ourselves.

How about .srt files ? I think it`s possible to convert those graphic idx/sub files into text based .srt files. I could give it a go if you could use those ?

At least I could try. Though I have no idea how this could work. OCR on japanese characters? :o

Ha Ha, I know what you mean, I`m at a loss on that one also. I tried to find some info and it boggles the mind. Ok, I?ll try and start doing the conversions.
For OCR for kanji, I think we have to have
the Japanese language pack installed in Windows so it can recognize
the characters.

I`ve also found this website we could use for translations:

Hello wargand,

Now I really know what you meant.

Well, I installed the Japanese OCR language pack and opened
the .sub/idx file in Vobsubs Subresync. It will save it as a .srt file, but still requires that I translate the Japanese katakana symbols into their romaji equivalents to be translated.
I`m at a loss.

The .sub/idx files are written in katakana which represent parts of kanji
Http://www.omniglot.com/writing/japanese_katakana.htm

I couldn`t find all the symbols, and other symbols can be added to each other to produce different sounds and there are also grammatical rules for this.
Ok, I give up on this one. We need someone who understands the language
to do it even with an online translator I think.

Hold, why translate katakana into romaji? If I can have a file with hiragana or katakana everything would be fine. Kanji is the beast I have problems with.

Not great, but I could live with it.

I am by far not fluent. And I have not practiced for the last four or five years, but I might have a better chance than you with your online translator. :-)

wargand,

He he, That sounds like a plan to me. I couldn`t translate a single sentence. I ended up with " chu no pu pu " or something like that.

Every website I visited for info suggested using Subresync found in Vobsub.
http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=223364

I think I may have dinked the process. This is what I did:

I put the .sub and corresponding .idx in the same folder.

I started Vobsub like this:
start > programs > Vobsub
Then I chose "Subresync" and using that, I opened the .sub file.
Then I chose "Save as .srt
When I did that, before it converted the .sub/idx into .srt, it wanted me to translate each Japanese symbol.
I could see the symbols, but not c & p them into a translator. Bummer

Will you try with Subresync and see if I screwed the process up ?

Nope, not possible. I am a Windoze free zone. As far as I can see it is useless anyway. It finds the characters, but does not 'recognize' them. It just presents them and asks you what character it is. If I could tell, I would not need this program.
