funny enough...The Exorcist was based around events that its author (william peter blatty) went through as a child. A lot of supernatural things supposedly happened to him in his youth, and he directed those events into one focused one when he wrote the novel. So this movie isn't inspired by the true events from the exorcist, as there is no true event of exorcism that the original is based on. ANYWAY.....thanks for the up!!! :beerchug:

From what I have read, the Exorcist was based on an incident that happened when the author was young, but not to him. It happened to a little boy who spoke in languages he did not know and seemed possessed. One of the incidents I remember hearing about was when this little boy was being exorcised by the priest, he punched into his mattress and pulled out a metal spring and stabbed the priest in the leg. So, the Exorcist was based on "some" events that supposedly happened, but it was a little boy instead of a girl.
