Plot: Ning Tsai-Shen, a humble tax collector, arrives in a small town to carry out his work. Unsurprisingly, no-one is willing to give him shelter for the night, so he ends up spending the night in the haunted Lan Ro temple. There, he meets Taoist Swordsman Yen Che-Hsia, who warns him to stay out of trouble, and the beautiful Nieh Hsiao-Tsing, with whom he falls in love. Unfortunately, Hsiao-Tsing is a ghost, bound for all eternity by a hideous tree spirit with an incredibly long tongue that wraps itself round its victims and sucks out their life essence (or 'yang element')...

Finally a worthy rip of this AAA HK classic masterpiece.

One of the few live action movies that can match and surpass the action and bizarreness of a manga.
Thing blew me away the first time I saw it 12 years ago or so,despite viewing it poor german dubbing ! :o
Must admit it's then awesome effects haven't aged as gracefull as one might have hoped, still beats the crap out of most junk CGI effects though

I hear there are still idiots out there who haven't seen this...:P (looks at site owner)

It can, but is has not enough horsepower for most of them. This one is even anamorphic, so based on other tests we did with spud, I guess it won't play.

Perhaps a version of XBMC that includes CoreAVC... but it seems this won't happen in a near future: http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=8 ... count=1197

I have an old 950MHz Duron PC and it can handle this, but only using CoreAVC.

You know that I got an xbox. :)

I just don't like mkv, yes, I'm closed-minded. :p

 Sorry, I didn't read carefully.

Well, speed is not an issue. Most of the time I use my multimedia PC + plasma TV to view the files. I have 848x400-something res via VGA so it's clearly the better choice. And the Athlon 64 3200+ lets me play everything.

The issue in this case was mkv. Nothing that can't be rationally explained, I simply don't use it. But you won't find me bitching about it (much ;)). It's good to have choices and as for me I simply don't DL the fuckers and can live with it.

With elguaxo's rips is a little different. He releases a lot of stuff I'm into and I sometimes find myself thinking 'Shame' - so what I posted wasn't really about mkv either but about the fact that I really like the movie. A first (emotional) reaction. :)
