This is probably my favorite ghost/haunting movie. It builds-up so well, and really freaked me out when I first saw it back in the 80s. I'm thinking it is time for a re-watch...

I watched it and its really good. There were a few things I don't think they should have done, like the wheelchair chase scene... it just didn't work and its dated, but its a good flick. Clearly influence the likes of The Orphanage, The Others, etc.

Yes ,yes reminded me of The Others but i don't remember most of that one ,and that's not a good thing in terms of movie quality. :(
Changeling,on the other hand, gives you several minor but unexpected plot twists contrary to one
Spoiler:
they don't know they are dead
in The Others. For me,it was ruined when i figured out in the middle of The Sixth Sense :matrix:

The Sixth Sense is a hack job imo, right time at the right place with that one i think. Nothing screams that more than the fact the writer is the most employed unemployable talentless writers around.

The Sixth Sense was like a drug that you can only take once and then it has no effect anymore... and if someone gave you just a little taste before the big dose... well that ruined it. That "moment" in the Sixth Sense happened to me. I guess because nobody spoiled it for me before watching and I didn't over analyze while watching. I'm glad I got to experience it the way it was intended.

All of of his efforts after that, to me, have failed. Just something missing from the story, or the flow. Too bad...

Had you seen films like Jacob's Ladder before it?

Yeah, but I try to have a clear mind when watching a film. If the film is good, I just go where it takes me without questioning things too much, but if it is bad I tear it apart early.

I find that very hard to accomplish with so many info flying around. For example on this site. I usually enjoy a film more if it hasn't been praised to death before I saw it.

Yeah, and that is another thing... I try not to research a movie too much before watching. I have friends who go to movie database sites, read all the reviews, watch trailers, over analyze the cast, and pretty much ruin every movie they watch, or basically talk themselves out of watching it in the first place. Sad... very sad.

Analyzing a movie sucks. It's the way it is. There was a certain intention of the writer/director and you will sometimes only know the true meaning if you ask himself.
Just like analyzing a novel or a book sucks. It's all the same. Don't analyze it, enjoy it! It's as simple as that, but people like it hard - don't know why. Perhaps they want to seem intelligent.
