What shite!!!

Land was way better. :matrix:

Bad acting, pointless script, little or no story, crap cgi, it added nothing to the dead franchise.

I think I liked it. I guess that's a bad sign when you can't remember. Anyways I do remember it was better than Land of the Dead. That movie sucked balls....

Land was wank.

Armoured super trucks? Sympathetic zombie revolutionaries? Piss poor social commentary? Dennis Hopper?
Bigger budget, commercially orientated flop.
And that shitting ham Aisa Argento is just atrocious.
Fuckin' rubbish. A weak effort from a director way past his prime.

Diary was gonna be lightweight and stand-alone from the start, and for that reason I was able to enjoy it on its own, admitedly weak, merits. It's far from classic but compared to the crushing dissapointment of Land it was certainly watchable.

Blah blah blah.

Like so many films I expect to be in the minority on this one but don't care as I'm drinking some nice whisky and my opinion is just as valid to me as yours is to you.

Well i give it a 6 of 10. It was way better than Land and Day of the Dead but WAAAYYY worse than Dawn, it looks that when Romero has not the "obligation" to do something he films better. Still the movie has an odd ending, i would say emotionless ending. The last 30 minutes are too slow. With a different ending Diary could have been a very different movie, maybe even something compared with Dawn. May this movie be a new upward in Romero quality.

Rocha.

I loved it. Seriously.
I think Romero has been able to renew the zombie's genre: this time we don't have hordes of zombies coming out from everywhere, but just some undeads here and there, and every meeting with them is creepy, even if not scary at all.
The idea of making a movie about the power of media and cameras works well, and Samuel is one of the most entertaining characters ever seen in a horror movie  Too bad he can't survive for more than four minutes...but he dies in a great way!
Anyway, I liked it, except for some badly staged moments and a couple of ugly CGI effects.
But I'm sure this flick will split the audience :argue:

I totally agree with you, Matool. :beerchug:

I allways have high expectations about Romero's movies and I haven't enjoyed one of them this much since the old Dawn. Not that I find Day or Land that bad, but not as good as they should have been.

Here, he delivers some thoughts about our society, the media, and he seems to have his old dark/weird sense of humour back.

I really loved it and I can't wait for the next sequel.

Here's my short review:

At first, I really thought it was going to be ace... the intro and the uncut news reporter 'resurrection' scene was really great. However, I then went from real enjoyment to annoyance when that shite voice over kicked and the shit editing started. I know its 'purposely' done, but I hated the voice over and as mentioned the acting was really that strong for essentially a first person view. The film however picked up loads as it went along; the killings and the gore was top notch, some of the story was a bit shakey, but I thought it was decently paced. Unfortunately the lousy bits, which are stylistically done let the film down... I did not enjoy the 'film within a film' nature.

I think with all the footage available this could be recut; maybe remove the voice over, drop some of the alternative edits.

This could have and should have been so much better, I mean this could have been really good... the chase scenes in the first person perspective I really enjoyed; the wandering hordes, the gore and any group scene were really top notch. However, once again, the downs were quite significant downs.

Unlike Land, I liked this on the first viewing. However, I've recently bought and watched Land of the Dead on HD-DVD and really appreciated it a lot more, I enjoyed the set pieces and thought it was entertaining. However, I think I prefer Diary to Land... I just think it needs re-editing and hope that Romero allows this to happen.
