Spoiler: |
I liked the story. Well, you maybe expect all that "normal" stuff, when you see the beginning; like "haunted house". Through it has those moments in a way, but there is more. It has cemetery - or smthng like that - but the meaning is also a little different like in other movies. When you hear the title, you can think of some Orphan or Case39 maybe, but its not really this... but has this also... It even has, i could, few details, which reminds Blair Witch Project. Well, i just could say, it really reminds a lot of movies. But the combination is good. Maybe my mood yesterday was...nah, different, but i - like allready said - enjoyed this movie.
Btw, Daughter is great. Beautiful. Has something mysterious in her face. Sexy.
Other interesting fact was those monsters. Gods, i guess. They really like from classic b-movies, and that is also interesting, considering that its, nah, hollywood movie and there Kevin Costner also in it.

They really should have put BABE on the cover/poster. Btw, she's from Pan's LabyrinthMy resume would be so: In the beginning it's hollywood movie, in the ending - it's horror b-movie.

I'm sorry, Slayer, but I agree, they should rather put the girl (I actually remember her from "Frágiles", but after checking IMDb, I see she was in both) on the cover and if you scroll up, you'll see that the pig is already on it ... Anyway, it was way better than I would expect it to be judging from said cover. In fact if it wasn't for you guys saying it's perfectly watchable here, I doubt I would ever bother with it, so huge thanks! Kind of went blah in the last 15 or so minutes (including the X-Files worm guy escapee and his cousins), but still ended on a high note. A fully deserved 5.5/10 for me. Also to my surprise Teh Kev did a pretty good job in this movie . As a reward, he should be allowed to watch Waterworld 3 times in a row followed by 3 consecutive screenings of The Postman (if he did a shitty job, I think he should be forced to watch Waterworld and The Postman 3 times each). But I also understand how easy it must've come to him to play a character that reacts very negatively to the word "suck". After all when you keep hearing something enough times, you'll naturally start getting annoyed by it. btw he must be using a really shitty search engine if he can get only less than half a million results for "odd behavior, daughter". Maybe it's time to stop being so damn "indy" and just try Google next time .

Hehe, thanks, glad it makes somebody laugh. As you see, Simon is an angry little fat man that looks for flaws in everything . It does usually make it hard to enjoy most of the things in life, but makes for a nice change when I find something I really like. I can promise you I will write more obscenity and snide remarks about more movies, though! In fact I think I might have some notes left after ones I've seen in the past, if so, I will post them too. btw another thing about this one is that it might seem to be drawn out a little bit - it is 107 minutes, but I feel like the story could've just as well been told in a 45 minute episode of The Twilight Zone or some such. Could be because it was adapted from a short(ish) story without probably enough material to last for almost two hours, but then again so was John Carpenter's The Thing and it doesn't seem like there's much useless stuff in that (and I love it). You guys who decided to pass on it aren't really missing much either, as it hold no surprises and has nothing really stunning for people who watch as much of this shit as we do, but for me it was perfectly good for what it was, even at this length. At least the atmosphere was eerie enough to not go into the SBiG territory.

There's, IMO, an equal quality single-CD version release from GFW: ed2k: New%20Daughter.2009.DVDrip.XviD-GFW.avi [699.22 Mb] [ Stats] 640x272, 24fps, 129k MP3 audio BTW, it falls into American(Indian) burial ground type horror complete with scary, though not entirely original, creatures. Spiders and ants too. Minimal gore but with some blood and guts and limbs.
