Is this really widescreen or just simply overcropped? I'm asking because qualitywise it's looking like a VHS transfer. :?

It's the german Bootleg DVD and the source was a vhs. i think the old uncut anchor bay tape. it's the only widescreen tape as far as i know. the previous rip seems to be from the media home entertainment tape??
this not from the new anchor bay trilogy box
quality is still poor i know but in motion it looks better than the old vhs rip.
i think it's the original aspect ratio and the previous vhs rip is simply open matted
compared to the old vhs its cropped, but its how it was intended to look like and how it looked like in cinema

imdb says 1,85:1 for this one and that fits with the new rip
stills from the website also matches the screenshots

Thanks for all the info.

If the VHS is open matte, shouldn't there be also more of the picture below and not only above the part from the bootleg DVD?

Since it looks like it is from a VHS too, I believe that the bootleg version simply overcropped. :)
