Thought it had a good enough cropping. What's the problem? :?

I don't know about the last pic, it seems to have a long black bar underlining the picture, but since it's missing in the other screenshots, maybe it is 1) not bad cropping there, or 2)only in that part of the movie.

However, all pics have a black line in the upper left corner. It runs from the leftside up to almost the middle of the picture.

This happens often, my latest release had it too (same place, btw). It's not a big deal, people will get it anyway if they like the movie. It's just that since information used to make the black bar had to be taken from somewhere, your encoder did not have all power committed to make the best quality picture, and thus this is LQ.

Yeah I just noticed that, this is an older rip of mine. I'm getting back in the business so I do appreciate any feedback/help, thanks.
Can you suggest a program for AVI cropping? I'll try vidcrop later tonight.

Ages ago I also ripped this one. (viewtopic.php?t=13135)
You can get the best result by cropping 2px more on top and 2 (or maybe 4) more on the bottom. iirc only thing that remains is the bottom border on several scenes.

The dvd is really crap, has several ar's (2 iirc) and the bottom is rounded (ellipsed).

Mmm, I only crop during the encoding setup, so then I use GK (Gordian Knot). I don't know about cropping afterwards.

I'll have to disagree with you on that, Slayer.
Movies that are posted in this section get far less views than the ones posted in the high quality section. Most people tend to stay away when they see "low-er quality" and that's quite reasonable.
To give an example, if Vae Victis and I posted each one his own rip, his in the HQ and mine in the LQ section respectively, it's obvious people would prefer it over mine, even if it's virtually the same rip (about the same bitrate and resolution, with the only difference being the audio). I'm not saying that his or mine rip deserve more views, hell no, but just about the same amount- since we both put time into it, and there are no serious technical flaws.
And as this is an ed2k forum and the scene is openly anti-p2p, I don't understand why so many of the scene rules apply here.

Just my opinion. I'm not saying that I'll stop posting here (except if you want me to, hehe) or that you should change the way the forums are.

Bob

You have a point there, but since many rips get posted on the mainpage eventually, this difference will be less important. Many people don't visit the forums, they just visit the mainpage of Dead Donkey. There all movies are listed in order of when they have been posted on the mainpage. You can adjust this order (ie, you can change it to alphabetical) to your likings if you want to. As you can see, on the mainpage there is no reference to higher/lower quality, so people who are interested in the film will click it.

You're right, people who have a choice between higher or lower quality will more often go for higher, but since a lot of movies only have one rip available, that rip will get the attention it deserves.

I like the way you argue and see things. However you can also ask yourself: Why do I create a rip, if there is already one (with almost the same quality) available?

When I ripped this I was only aware of the internal iLs rip unfortunately.
