has this one been deinterlaced? Reason i ask is second to last picture still has notable interlacing artifacts on it.

we had this conversation too in our chan when I just ripped it, the source is a shitty dvd (I suspect NTSC badly converted to PAL). Of course I have deinterlaced it, but it looks the same on the dvd so...

ah, okay I'll put it in here.

Not much to be done about source errors, although i suspect a more forceful deinterlacing method might have done a number on the interlace artifacts. Which did you use?

bob isnt' very good for non-clean sources... i take it you used this one posted by kemlo here:
http://scifi.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?p=3268#3268

The problem with that is that its only destroying one frame and it doubles any kind of source defect if i understand it correctly. I did some tv rips a while back and made the mistake of using that; what it would do is white-wash/decolourise one frame and amplify any artifacts in that frame because it was removing half of the data, whereas what was needed was an average between the two combed frames. (I think, it makes sense). For teething problems, mid-scene interlacing, you have to use a filter that goes through and combs the frames rather than just throw them away. Makes your ripping time slightly longer.

That just won't work well on a poor quality source, or any kind of NTSC->PAL rip. I think decomb might have fixed that stuff.

Have a test with a stornger deinterlacing filter next time you've got problem, it might produce some nice results for you :beerchug:

ok, thx spud; will give it a try next time. I'm a pro when it comes to timing/typesetting stuff (with the fansubgroup), but I'm only an average ripper

Really? Usually I am not very tolerant when it comes to crap. This one is crap, no doubt. Usual teeny "horror" and cheap effects. But somehow I like it. Ok, I don't love it, but it is ok and I don't know why. Maybe it is the story. Everybody knows the story and knows what to expect next. And really, it always happens what you almost expected, but not quite. I'd say it is almost a parody, but not quite. It is almost a comedy, but not quite. Of course, when you want horror, then this one is wrong for you. The film might be almost many things, but it is definitely not a horror film.

Yes, but possibly not on purpose. If it was an American film, you get their "parody" in spades and cannot miss it. But I have not much experience with Italian parodies. So I simply don't know whether it was intended or not. :-)
